Week 6
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
Another week at the bottom of the sea. You may start to mark the passage of time by the increasing number of people you seem to be bleeding each week - look how few of you there are now. Nearly half your number gone, and for what? The shadowy machinations of some madman? You've met some others, but they seem unable or unwilling to solve this problem for you. Time marches onwards.
In the abyss, New Rapture starts to wake. It's small things, for now - the lights of a building here and there, the flicker of a neon sign for some small business. The restoration of this city continues.
Speaking of this city, there's a new branch of your little slice of it to explore. It's certainly the most picturesque of the branches you've seen.
There's more to see and do, citizens of New Rapture. And hey, there's coins to get, too.

You can especially find Floyd at the aquarium! He's practically in there for a couple of hours checking out all the fish. Especially the moray eels! He's got the tank lid opened up, and he's absolutely petting them and feeding them despite those sharp teeth! Perhaps they sense a kinship with him.
Later on, you can find him swimming in the lake! While he still is in a more human form, chlorine probably isn't the best for him. Catch him swimming around a bit!
After his swim, you might catch him in the arboretum. Or- wait, where is he? Is that snoring?
...He's absolutely taking a nap on a decently high up tree branch like some sort of sloth. This is fine.
After all this, you can find him in the kitchen, cooking up some food for himself! And boy does it smell good! ]

Hey! Floyd!

Ah. I suppose that is a valid reason to have something like this...

After that, she makes her way to the Aquarium, where she can be found admiring the fish-- up until she sees the shark tank. That spooks her, and she sprints the fuck out of there.
cw: panic attacks for final prompt
The tea house seems like a better idea than a pet store, and she ducks into there, and finds herself a spot underneath the counter to hide out. She's paler than usual, forcing herself to breathe regularly-- and mumbling to herself.]
You kicked his granddaddys ass, you kicked his ass, it's gonna be okay---
[but it doesn't feel okay. it feels like she's in danger of having someone take her away from herself. And that's terrifying.]

...Hawkfish? Everything okay?
[ He carefully peeks over the counter. Clearly not! He's not the best at comforting people with words, but he does quickly make some tea!!! Going back over, he carefully sets it down in front of her and gives her some space, sitting close by.
He does remember Brett calming people down a while back... Maybe that will work? ]
Can you tell me what color my shirt is?
[ It's a blue one! ]
no subject
She stays quiet for a while as he goes to make tea, but doesn’t look much better by the time he returns, but she does manage a wry smile.]
I’m not color blind.

library
[Brett's in here pretty often; reading is what he usually does around here, when he's not writing something or other. So he knows that Zinda is not...usually much of a library person. Today was a whole lot for her, though.]
Are you okay?
no subject
I don’t think it’s in here.

tea house, continued cw
Zinda?
[ He doesn't really need to ask — even before seeing her under the counter, that voice is more than familiar by now. Of course it is Zinda. But she does not sound or look like the version of herself she's chosen to present the world with for this past month and a half, and that is frightening. It is probably why the vampire move, when faced with emotional distress, is always to put as many rooms between you and the afflicted as possible.
Nandor does not realize that he is doing as well as he is primarily because the people here, fresh-minted strangers whose kindness wasn't familiar enough to be taken for granted and spat on, have reached out to him. He will under no circumstances process his current emotions enough to connect them back to that unrealized fact! But something, which he will never interrogate further, holds him here. It keeps his feet rooted to the ground, his voice low and steady. ]
Tell me what I can do.
no subject
Oh. Shit.
Nandor’s pretty much the last person she wants to see her like this right now. Romance is hard enough as the fearless, powerful Lady Blackhawk—- let alone anyone less than that.
She wonders if it’s too late to bolt. No, he’s standing in the way of escape.]
Well. This is—- embarrassing.
Hang tight. I’ll get up in a sec.

You are not alone.]
Are you really going to just stand there?
As opposed to what? I suppose I could sit.
[A man and a woman stand on the lakeshore - well, no. The man is standing. The woman has seated herself in one of the boats the lake has provided in case anyone wants to enjoy a boat ride.]
I'm sure sitting in the boat would be much more enjoyable.
Where I'm sure you will want me to do all of the rowing, again?
Ah. I knew that concern would resurface.
[Whoever they are, they are enraptured in this conversation of theirs.]
no subject
Ah... May I help you...?
no subject
I doubt you can, but fear not. I have it in hand.
What she's saying is that she would like me to row the boat again.
Honestly, Robert.

It's only the one. I'd say the situation calls for it, wouldn't you?
We're having a minor discussion. [The woman asserts to Nandor.] But I guess to answer your question, we are scientists.

casual alcohol use in third prompt
So, that's why Hild finds herself in the patio, standing on top of one of the tables with her arms crossed and staring towards the middle of the pentagram. Her heels are on the ground (because that sounds like a recipe for disaster), and the table has a collection of what looks like different magic circles; the intricate linework and indecipherable writing seems to be structured around a familiar five-point shape.
Once she's done trying to figure that out, though, she spends a brief amount of time in the meeting room, squinting at a blue-haired woman with a pretty large staff in tow. ]
I guess there needs to be some kind of literal presence here for it to work, huh.
[ She sounds a little annoyed by the whole idea of it.
Later into the night, she can be found in the nightclub, sitting at the bar with a pretty sizeable bottle of sake sitting next to her. She's got a small cup in hand, using her free hand to wave at whoever ends up approaching. ]

...anyway]
What were you attempting, exactly?
no subject
Hmm?
[ She looks at him, cocking her head to the side. ]
I attempt a lot of things, you'll have to be a little more specific.
[ What she was talking about just prior seemed to be in regards to the woman she's looking at, not her table antics. ]

Do I want to know what you're doing?

Nothing particularly interesting, unfortunately. Trying to figure out what the deal is about the table positioning.
You wouldn't happen to have any magic where you're from, would you, Misfire?

What's all this?
no subject
Just some ideas for potential magic circles. I figured it might be a good idea to try and figure out why the tables were positioned as they are since some people were under the impression it was some kind of devil worship or something a while back.
[ She cocks her head to the side, squinting at the tables like that's somehow going to change the perspective of things. ]
There's not much to go off, however. So it's all just as much of a shot in the dark as anything else we've done. [ grumbles ] What a pain.
