WEEK 4

Another trial, another week, and still you're probably running lower on answers than you'd like. And on people - you lost three since last Sunday. By the end of this week, you'll have been here for nearly a full month, yet still the days crawl on.

You wake up Sunday, again with no memory of Saturday, but this time with a simple message on your devices: You may resume requesting items, if you like. Enjoy. Guess it really was just a stealth motive after all, but at least it's being communicated that it's over! That's something, at least.

And when you leave your rooms on Sunday, there's another new area to explore! This one is... certainly more ambitious in its construction than the last one, to say the least. But hey, you have a pretty neat place to host parties, if you feel so inclined! That's... fun...

Hey, you gotta find the fun in situations like this where you can! Silver linings, right?

[Anna isn't wearing the provided swimsuit, rather, one of the wetsuits from the machine. She's immediately hit square in the face, sputters, and takes a deep breath.]

What is your problem? What gives you the right to do that, are you five?

Sorry! I was aiming for your arm, I swear, I just over-corrected!

I don't care where you were aiming! I didn't sign up for a water gun fight, even if you think it's fun.

Really? I thought everyone enjoyed a good water fight at the park.

I will never understand you people and your idea of making fun out of a deathtrap.

[nothingcanstop]

We have to do something to get the edge off, every once in a while, or we'll go crazy.

It's probably too late for most of these people.

You know what I mean. If we're thinking constantly about how bad everything can be, then we aren't going to be able to pick ourselves back up. You need some levity, even in horrible situations.

It doesn't seem like it. I've always thought the most important thing was to always keep focus.

[nothingcanstop]

I mean... Yes, keeping focus is always important. Knowing your goal, just...what you want to do. [ A moment's pause. But- ] But you can loose the forest for the trees, if you get too wrapped up in it all.

What exactly are you insinuating?

[nothingcanstop]

I'm not insinuating anything, just sharing my experience. Staying positive is just as much a part of this.

[ There's another pause, and. ] Anna... I'm not trying to attack you here. I swear.

It certainly sounds like it. What experience would you have comparable to being trapped in this place, anyway?

[nothingcanstop]

That's not something I- [ Alright, well, this is ridiculous to be having this conversation here, over a little water gun, but- ]

No. You know what? If it'll help you take me seriously... I spent ten years of my life stranded on the moon. No contact, no hope of rescue. Just me and a rocket ship that I had to repair, all by myself. That's how I know what I'm talking about.

What -- the moon? With nobody else?

[nothingcanstop]

With nobody else. The only reason I didn't die is I had this stupid gum that provided oxygen and water and all that.

[ And...damn, she's serious. Like, really serious about all this. ]

I know what I'm talking about, Anna. I'm not just...trying to lecture you, or force you to make friends, or anything like that. It was the worst experience of my life, but I'll be damned if I don't use what I learned there to help survive here.

[Anna folds her arms and shakes her head.]

Just don't drag me into your games. I've outgrown playing and having fun.

So what will you do to relax? Are you going to be focused 24/7 on only the dire things? That's going to wear you out eventually.

[emberserker]

...Not if I win before it's done. I'm sure... I'm sure, once I've done what I need to, then things will be as they should be. Then maybe.

[nothingcanstop]

It's been three weeks already. How long do you think we'll be here for?

[emberserker]

The Professor himself is rushing it, isn't he? Incentives and limits even when they don't seem to make sense, just because he wants more kills.

[nothingcanstop]

The last time we thought we understood the Professor's actions, he hid his real motive behind the promise of money. I wouldn't count on speed.

[emberserker]

I don't think the speed is the endgame. I think it's a prerequisite.

[nothingcanstop]

All I'm saying is don't spread yourself too thin. We can't predict when this whole thing will be over.
