WEEK 6

Another week, another three lost - and this time all to one murder case. And that's to say nothing of the execution, or whatever went on with that ouija board that still sits in the library... strange things are afoot in the facility, and some of them not even your captor seems fully equipped to explain.

The other of the two doors in the main living area finally opens after another lost Saturday, and what lies beyond is... strange, to say the least. Looks like there's no shortage of changes, even in the architecture. It certainly seems like you should have gotten something like this before the water park at the very least, don't you think?

Angel's still out and about at night, if you want to be found. And who knows what else you might find if you're out alone? Apparently, you might have a ghost on your hands.

[Wow, this is infinitely better than he was expecting out of this place. Excellent. Ema and Shelley's deaths were not in vain.

All right. He's going to go check out the X-ray machine first, because it's...well, it's there, and it's another thing he wasn't really expecting to see down here. It's powered-down, sure, but is there anything else immediately noticeable about it? ...Also are the plates taken out of it/is it clear for new use, or are plates/film still loaded into it?]

[ As near as he can tell, it's an average X-Ray machine (though admittedly you'll have to forgive me for being a little fuzzy if you go into particulars about it, since I have no real firsthand x-ray x-periences). But there is in fact currently a plate loaded into it! ]

[...As someone who spent six months last year getting x-rayed an average of twice a week or so, asking way too many questions all the while, duly noted and I will not go into too many particulars!

That said, excellent - he'll work on getting that unloaded, then, because Umbrella is a weird group of people and they like hiding passwords and shit on x-ray films. How do they get them to show up? Who the fuck knows. Everyone in his canon is like this. I'm so sorry.

That said, assuming he can get it unloaded without damaging it, he'll check to see if there's anywhere the film can be viewed; you know, the setup with all the lights that they clip the film to in medical procedurals. If there isn't one and/or the power is down there too, the ceiling lights will work, as long as he can get light behind it to see what's going on there.]

[ It's easy enough to unload, especially if he knows what he's doing - and there is in fact a working light wall setup! With two extra blank plates below it for good measure. And funny enough, when he turns the lightbox on, the X-Ray machine itself gets power too! Though it's halting, so... maybe best to not count on it lasting forever.

This image, though, shows an x-ray of an arm, albeit with some kind of weird interference, it looks like? And written on it, hopefully after the fact and not part of the image itself, are the words Upper Left Cabinet. ]

[What sort of interference? Like there's something there that shouldn't be, or the staticky/grainy sort of thing that implies either overexposure or something else just sort of going wrong when the image was taken?]

[ The second! It doesn't obscure the image or anything, but it would be very difficult to not notice it. ]

[Huh. Okay, so there's noise going on, that's...great, probably.

More important, though, is the message written on it; he'll turn off the light panels once he's gotten it, because he doesn't want to overtax the system, but once he's done that he'll go check out the medicine cabinets. Upper left...let's see what's there.]

[ Well, it's kind of jammed in here, but... say hello to a skeleton friend! Life-size and happy to be free, we can only assume. ]

[ It's all connected! You might have to hook the arms on, and the stand will need some assembly, but this friend seems to be in good condition!

There's a piece of paper taped to one of the hands! ]

Some part of him is, not gonna lie, hoping that he gets to jigsaw together another monstrosity, but he'll actually be patient and check out what he's looking at before attempting that. Okay. What kind of marks are we looking at? Is there a specific pattern to them, are they the same kind of marks as the note? If so, where are the... :) ones concentrated, if anywhere?]

[ No jigsawing needed, but... every bone seems to be labelled with one or the other! The :)s are the torso, it looks like, ribs and spine. ]

Well, now that we've verified that someone has labelled this skeleton with A Bunch Of Very Good Bones To Stab Between, does it seem like there's anything else noteworthy about these? Do they move strangely, do they do things bones should not do. ...Should he come back to this later before he drives himself mildly insane trying to figure out what he should do with this.]

[ They appear to be a slightly different color from the other bones, upon very close inspection! Perhaps if they were exposed to something? ]

it looks like an x-ray of... a real torso! not a skeleton at all! like there is a skeleton, but there's also some funky metal parts on its back, integrated with the spine.

There's also a message! What's the best way to get through a bad day? ]

Okay, so this is happening. He assumes the answer to this is neither "sadism" nor "heroin." He is otherwise the worst person to ask this question of. He is going to take a moment and try to do this without asking Della because frankly he is not sure he's going to like whatever answer she may have to give him.

Judging from the room, his first thoughts are honestly "sleep it off" or "I don't fucking know, did they give us Prozac?", so...checking the beds is at least a start.]

The beds don't give up much of anything! They're nice enough beds, but that's about it. ]

[ The metal bits are pretty much just here for "something is real fucky with this x-ray, which is super not of the thing you put in," there's nowhere else they're viewable except the plate.

Turning the film around is a suitably dumb answer, but it's not the suitably dumb answer this riddle requires. Try taking another look around the room, Birkin! I have faith in you. ]

Okay, we've got this really fucked up x-ray machine that he kind of wants nothing else to do with, medicine cabinets, blood-

...do you ever just have that moment when something clicks in your head and you don't like it because that's the reaction he's having right now. what kind of setup are we looking at for the blood.]
