There's always a lighthouse

And just like that, you wake up in the basement of a lighthouse in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. There's a circle of 25 pods in the middle of the room, and two more in a room off to the side, and you can imagine who is in which.

An elevator to the side of the room leads up to the ground floor (or to the first sub-basement, if you want to check out the machine that brought you here), where you can for the first time in weeks look out a window and see the sky. Its a beautiful sunny day, with a strong breeze on the grassy ground of the island where the lighthouse stands. Have you ever been this happy to hear seagulls?

You're free. Whatever comes next, you're free and you won. Take some time to relish your victory, won't you? Reunite with friends you thought you had lost, go forth and just... well, enjoy this.

[Aela doesn't approach Kirei right away. They have something to discuss, of course, but she leaves him alone for quite some time as she gets used to being outside again and then later on checks on several of the others. But surely Kirei doesn't think she's forgotten.

So anyway, she'll approach later on, when there aren't others around to overhear them, because this isn't really a conversation they should probably have in front of the others.]

You're right; I don't care. I have no reason to. I don't know much about you. But what you said back there bothered me, so for my own sake I want to hear what you have to say. And just as importantly, I want to know what you're doing after all of this.

Nothing, most likely. I've surely missed the end of several things I set in motion back in Fuyuki, so I'll presumably be scrambling to find if any of the situation can be salvaged there.

[She isn't surprised in the least, but she'll let it go for now and focus on this.]

I see. Do you think you'll be able to find something to do with yourself there if the situation isn't salvageable?

I don't know. Why does that matter to you?

It doesn't. But you've been given another chance at life, and I don't want to see it wasted.

If you find your world holds nothing else for you, come to Skyrim. I'm sure you'll hate our religion, but at least we don't have the Church of Seiros.

And why would I do that? I seek an answer, Aela, not merely to continue existing. The only way I can find it is through something that exists on my own world, and all I need to do is reach it.

Then you have a goal, and if it can only be accomplished in your world, then I expect you to reach it. I don't want to hear that you've given up. You've cheated death this many times, so make sure you accomplish what you need to.

Would that it were so easy. But there does seem to be little else left to do other than that.
