COMMENCE VOYAGE
Fun Fact: Did you know the Atlantic Ocean has a surface area of 41.1 million square miles? No reason.
...
There's something uneasy in the air as you come to.
Well, "come to" is an interesting word in this case. It implies waking up, which is not exactly what happens. None of you are in beds, nor are you really asleep in the traditional sense. One moment you're somewhere else, doing something else with your time, and the next? You're somewhere on board a massive cruise ship - maybe lounging on a deck chair by the pool, maybe getting some Gains in the exercise room, maybe enjoying the tasteful décor in the buffet - and you have no idea how you got here or how you might get back. This is not your beautiful house. If you have a beautiful wife, she isn't here.
What you do have, apart from 25 other unlucky souls, is a small smartphone-like device in your pocket with only a handful of things on it: a clock reading 11PM, a pdf of a ticket in your name on a special Atlantic Liners New Year's Eve Cruise, an app labeled Passenger Profiles with some basic information on your traveling companions, and a message:
Welcome aboard, passenger! Please feel free to partake of any of the facilities while you wait for the big event! Remember: when midnight comes, you better make your way to the theatre at the back of Level 1 for the main event! The Captain and the First Mate will be there to take care of you all personally, and to help you ring in the new year in style!
Well, that's a start. But what you do until then, it seems, is up to you!

That was the same for me, too. One minute I was in Palmacosta, the next -
[ Wait. What? She turns back when she realizes what he said didn't line up. ]
What're you talking about? We didn't go yet. [ squints ] We split up right before we were going to head there. Remember? Seriously, is that trash messing with your brain now?
[ She very clearly would've remembered going there, so... what gives? ]
no subject
[ Well, this is... kind of the opposite of what he expected. He's used to losing time, but the idea of remembering something Alice doesn't — something like this that just happened, anyway, not like, his birthday or anything — is jarring. ]
Yes, I remember that, but we'd already regrouped since then. We all went together, and then Richter went ahead to the door while we waited for Marta and their group, and...
[ He stops there, frowning. Is this what that girl had meant about time...? ]
You'd run into them in Palmacosta too, right? You told me about it afterward.
no subject
[ It's probably good that he mentioned that, because she was about to blow him off again and say he was just making things up. ]
I don't think I've forgotten anything? I don't feel weird, I don't think, like how you'd lose yourself with that Centurion's core. But I know I'd definitely remember meeting back up with you and Richter before going anywhere else.
[ It'd be annoying if it was a larger gap between their memories, but something about it seemingly negligible is somehow worse? ]
no subject
Right! I know you don't forget stuff like that. [ Her mind is a steel trap, just like her soul!! ] And you weren't acting strange or anything when you got back from Palmacosta, so... it's got to have something to do with however we ended up here, right?
[ He doesn't have any idea how coming from different points in time would actually work, since it's not like she'd disappeared from the timeline or anything. Maybe he was brought here first and then they worked backwards??? ]
no subject
[ She's quiet for a second, seemingly thinking real hard, before she lets out a loud groan and drags her hands down her face. ]
Argh, this is stupid! We're supposed to be crushing Martmart and her stupid pet, not... [ She angrily grabs a bunch of poppers and just. Yeets them all. ] Not whatever this is!
no subject
Y-yes, my dear Alice, I understand! Being pulled away like this is certainly troublesome, and however you want to punish the ones behind it, I'll happily assist you!
[ And picking up the ones that made it to the floor. ]
But... it might also be nice to be able to take a little vacation together like this first, right? None of my entries in any of those romantic cruise sweepstakes ever got picked, but I'm sure we could recreate plenty of the things they described in the advertisements right here!
no subject
That doesn't mean the thought doesn't linger, though. ]
Please. As if I'd ever go on anything romantic with you. [ She pushes one of those stupid fucking hat flaps back over her shoulder, smirking. ] Unless one of those things they described involves pushing you overboard.
[ how's the kraken's sense of smell, i wonder..... ]
no subject
He drops the armful of party poppers back on the table. ]
If that's really what you want, you can push me as hard as you like. And I'll gladly swim across the entire ocean to be at your side again!
no subject
We’ll see about that once we figure out what’s going on here. Maybe if you swim around enough, it’ll get rid of that awful stench.
[ She sighs, crossing her arms as she taps her foot. ]
You haven’t figured anything out anything useful about where we are, did you?
no subject
[ He was Extremely Focused. Also they're in the middle of the water and it's dark as shit out there. ]
Though from what I did gather, it seems pretty likely that we aren't actually anywhere in our world at all. I talked to some people here who hadn't heard of either Sylvarant or Tethe'alla.
