THIRD TRIAL

[ Once all the needed information has been pulled from the PARTY ZONE and nearby echelons, Davy Jones once again does his rounds to collect everyone and bring them to the theatre. ]

You are all familiar with this procedure by now, step quickly!

[ And with the blast of the organ, down the elevator starts to go, into the bowels of the ship below. Things darken and then, as before, you hear a song from the crew of the Dutchman drifting predatory below. ]

Take yer places, all of ye.

[ The circle of podiums remains, two more podiums rusted over and aged. Jones takes his place, meanwhile, looking out the window at the sea.

The shanty dies down, and the atmosphere darkens.

Welcome to your third trial. ]

Well, then...maybe checking the profiles would be good. They're not hiding much when it's about fighting skill or...hitman jobs?

[Or at least it says that about Risotto -- no judging you for your job, Risotto, just pointing out]

Just as a start if we're gonna discuss this.

That's a good place. Though, admittedly some are hiding things.

[Look. Alice just revealed her she's not gonna deny anything.]

I suppose that it isn't. Though, I'll say I've nothing to do with this murder.

...That's well and good, but you made Plumeria...answer for herself multiple times, even though she couldn't have done this.

But we're. We're supposed to just believe you?

Risotto does appear to be right-handed, so there's one point in favor of his innocence.

I do think it's unlikely that he'd bring down the chandelier in an attempt to hide the actual cause of death - assuming he's a skilled hitman, anyway!

Although we don't have any way to confirm that that's why the chandelier was dropped in the first place, so there's that to consider.
jibunwo: (feels like it might change the world)

[personal profile] jibunwo 2021-02-20 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...Actually, something about that isn't adding up to me. If we are dealing with someone of that kind of skill, why stage something so elaborate? Why bring down the chandelier at all? Would it not be less trouble to simply kill Sylvando and therefore have less evidence to clear up?
paucipan: (🌹 i know the gluttonous guilt)

[personal profile] paucipan 2021-02-20 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
...They could have been trying to obfuscate their own skill, hoping we'd be distracted by the chandelier enough to think that'd would have killed him.

[Misdirection is a powerful thing. See exhibit A: the whole Alice thing last trial.]

Or...they could have just been pointlessly dramatic. I don't know why, but...
ahelpingpaw: (and then I fell in a hole.)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-02-20 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
...maybe something about the chandelier was inconvenient for the killer?

[Don't ask him what, though, he has no idea. He just is thinking that the most simple reason for throwing the chandelier down is that it being up there was not great for the killer]

We still haven't checked people's shoes--or, er, feet. But I think for those that don't wear shoes, walking on glass would obviously cause more injury.

Either way, it should be taken care of.

I cannot really argue with the desire to add a bit of extra drama, admittedly.

Less trouble but without the chandelier we would have come to that conclusion sooner.

Bringing down the chandelier could have been less to cover up the cause of death and more to cause chaos - it will be harder to figure things out if we're spending all of our time wondering why the chandelier was dropped in the first place, ja? But that seems far too risky - it seems the killer had to do dispose of glass shards anyway, so there certainly was a chance that they could be caught with a check...

[This is just going in circles at this point, so he shrugs. He doesn't know???]
jibunwo: (feels like it might change the world)

Sara did find those glass shards wrapped in a towel, but...why just those shards? Why clean up any at all?

As far as I'm concerned, that's still up in the air. Whether she did or didn't - the same goes for my view on anyone else here.

[ ... ]

I'd also say I'd rather not be wrongly condemned for being the killer when I'm not. Though, I'd understand if there was still suspicion upon my person...you do have to understand I'm also not left-handed.

In the end, my own suspicion happens to be less towards those who happen to be right-handed as a result.

I didn't accuse you of anything. I...simply said that merely claiming you didn't do anything clears you of nothing. Especially when you did accuse on far less.

[like, you're the one trying to act superior here dude]

I mean, I'm not left-handed but I can still use a sword left-handed. I kind of don't understand what that check was supposed to prove.

[i am so sorry to have opened this can of worms]

[ Somewhere out there, there so happens to be a laughtrack or something. ]

Not everyone can do that, for that matter. Though, I suppose that was an oversight not factored into that check.

In retrospect, we still have other things to look for, however.

Yeah, I get what we were trying to check for I think anyway but it doesn't seem like it cleared up anything at all.
