WEEK 5

Sunday arrives again. Even knowing the true face of your captor, Captain Jack, can't seem to stop that. The ship carries on through the Bermuda Triangle as normal. Or at least what passes for normal, out here.

As seems to be a running theme, a new floor of the ship is now open to you, this one a little tackier than the last, as well as a new section of the topdeck. The cycle you find yourself growing increasingly used to continues.

How long can this really last?

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to week 5, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

movie theater

[Yeager's in here to check the place out, but wow this is a bit beyond him. Terca Lumireis doesn't have movies so this is definitely better left to... anyone else, tbh. Anyway, hi, Constantine!]

I'm a bit impressed... He really is overdoing it on trying to make it look like he doesn't care that we know who he is, though.

[So either he's a big nobody flexing whatever power he's managed to obtain here, or he's actually someone mildly important with a massively inflated ego. There's absolutely no other options.]

Are these movies?

[He gestures to the ones you're sorting through.]

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-22 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long with how bloody self-centered he is. Everything is part of his 'plan'--from the flamethrowers breaking on the first day to him getting assaulted. If he's been outed, may as well make everyone know who he is.

[He glances towards the stack of DVDs.]

Yeah. You gotta--uh, you gotta pop 'em into the DVD player first, though. Here, pick one and I'll show you.

[Hey, Yeager, remember the promise Drunk Constantine made? Groundhog Day sure is in the pile.]
scythegun: (RELAXED ⇝ hahaha wow)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-22 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[The first part gets him to laugh. Isn't that the truth... The Captain sure is an asshole like that. But it's the second part that has his attention. Or perhaps more accurately, it's Groundhog Day, which he is absolutely picking out of the pile, don't mind him!!]

You mentioned this one! I'm very curious to see what groundhogs have to do with our current situation!

[...........yes that is going to be exactly this no context, because he's pretty damn sure Constantine isn't going to remember that conversation and that amuses him.]
scouserer: (03)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-22 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Huh?

[That bewildered look absolutely confirms that Constantine does not remember a single goddamn word of their conversation on Groundhog Day. He squints at Bill Murray on the cover, a confused expression on his face.]

No, it's not the groundhogs, it's the weird time shit--what? When did I start talking about Groundhog Day?
scythegun: (INDIFFERENT ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-22 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't remember?

[He presses a hand to his chest and looks totally wounded for a moment before laughing and waving it off.]

You were pretty drunk, I suppose that's natural! We spoke about it after the trial and you mentioned the weird looping time like this happened in this movie!
scouserer: (11)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-22 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Constantine squints, racking his brain to recall. Alas, his efforts are in vain, and eventually, he just sighs.]

You know what? Fine. S'not like we have anything to do. Throw it on.

[Wait--no. Yeager'll probably break the DVD player. After a moment, he snatches up the DVD case and pops it open.]

Nevermind, I'll do it. Don't want you to scratch the disc.

[And thus....begins Groundhog Day, with Jack roaring in the beginning credits. Constantine grimaces.]
scythegun: (OKAY ⇝ "regaey" is yeager backwards)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-23 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
[He just raises an eyebrow at the first part, waiting for Constantine to realize the folly of that idea. Don't tell him to throw it, he will absolutely throw it. No one needs that.

But thankfully Constantine rescues Groundhog Day (before it could be inevitably groundhog day-ed next week!!) and Yeager laughs.]

Right, right, be careful with them, got it!

[And ohhhhh god that sure is an intro, yikes.]

I'm a bit impressed with how egotistical he is.
scouserer: (11)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-23 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Constantine settles into one of the chairs, crossing his arms and leaning back to watch. It's been a hot minute...he's not really one to watch movies usually.]

That's the point. This guy-- [He says, pointing to Bill Murray.] --basically exclusively plays egotistical assholes. Dunno why. Guy used ti be a comedian, I think, so that probably gives you an idea of what he's like.

[Anyways, the movie continues and follows Bill Murray's miserable first round of Groundhog Day.]

They do have a council of people who pretend they can speak "Groundhog-ese". S'bullshit.
scythegun: (WHAT ⇝ but i'm very rich)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-23 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[That makes sense, sometimes you just gotta play the part of a jerk. Totally normal and nothing weird about that! The first round is indeed miserable, but Yeager looks like he's enjoying himself. Movies are such a fun concept!!]

Why would they need something like that in the first place?
scouserer: (09)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-24 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno. Again, s'a weird American thing.

[Time for Round 2 of Groundhog Day...in Groundhog Day.]

What would you do if you had all the time in the world? Just repeatin' the same day, over and over again.
scythegun: (REALIZE ⇝ estelle's the princess?)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-24 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Huh... So it really is a situation that's super similar, no wonder Constantine drew comparisons to this.

That question though...]

I can't say I'd enjoy it. I'd probably see just how badly I could mess things up for the man I'm currently working for.

[With no fear of consequences for his actions, of course he would resort to causing chaos. But also he doesn't like Alexei, soooo...]

What about you?
scouserer: (09)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-24 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Hm.

[Now that makes Constantine pause and think for a bit! He scratches his chin, staring straight ahead at the screen.]

Being stuck on the same day forever...never bein' able to die or move on from those twenty-four hours. First thing I think I'd do is find the bastard who trapped me in that stupid time loop in the first place. Barring that, I....

[He trails off.]

...I really don't know. Might just waste away every day, waiting for something to take me.
scythegun: (... ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-24 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Trapped in an endless loop like that does seem dreadfully hopeless. Assuming you can't find the person responsible for it or a way to break it... I imagine anyone would give up.
scouserer: (08)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-26 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Mhmm.

[He falls quiet for a moment, eyes focused on the screen. After several minutes, he speaks again.]

I suppose the moral of the story is that, with enough time, people will want to be better versions of themselves. But the thing is, not everyone has the patience to wait.
scythegun: (THOUGHTFUL ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-26 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

An interesting moral. It is a nice, hopeful message. But I don't think it's true for everyone. Even if it isn't an issue of patience... well, I'd imagine frustration and anger would be enough to get someone to act out. An endless cycle like that could make a person much, much worse.
scouserer: (04)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-28 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Constantine nods. An unreadable expression can be seen on his face.]

I suppose it's just a reflection of the daily agonies we face on a daily basis--only much, much more absurd and abstracted.

[As...you know. Movies usually are.]

If you want my honest opinion, though--the bastard-- [he means bill murray's character] --probably deserved to be trapped in a loop like that.
scythegun: (GLANCE ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-28 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
There are some people who truly do deserve a fate worse than death, ja?

[People like the Captain, or Bill Murray's character, apparently!!]
scouserer: (04)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-02-28 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Constantine snorts.]

You can say that again.

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-02-28 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
We'll have to see what we can do about the Captain once we have our shot at him, though I think we'll just have to settle on "death" for his fate.
