FOURTH TRIAL

[ Well! That's sure something, isn't it? There may or may not be a lot of you excited to get down to business, but Jones does eventually move to collect you all and bring you to the theatre. It's a familiar routine by now, perhaps even comfortingly so given the irregularities of this particular killing.

Two of you gone this week. The elevator is started to feel downright spacious, don't you think?

A shanty, as usual, echoes from the crew of the Dutchman as you enter. The room is the same as it has ever been before you as the elevator settles into position. ]

To yer positions, passengers. Chins up.

[ Three more podiums claimed by the rust and wear.

You have your evidence, and you're going to need it before long. The music outside dies down.

Albedo's feet had soot on them, so they're likely to have been his.

Could the other person have possibly gotten soot on their own shoes?

...Maybe.

At that point, however, I believe they would not be wearing shoes.

[...Hm. Something occurred to him.]

If Albedo was being pursued, then there would've been a second set of footprints, wouldn't there? But as far as I'm aware, we only saw one set.

[Scott's connected the dots.]

The werewolf can fly?!

[Nevermind, he hasn't connected shit.]

For God's sake, it's not a werewolf! [A pause.] Probably!

[But Scott brings up a point.]

But, uh, in my experience, when it comes to possession, levitation's actually quite a common occurrence.

Then if that was involved in some way, it'd explain the reason behind Albedo only being able to leave footprints behind.

[ This was, of course, going with the presumption those were his, but seeing as they are like 99% to be the case due to his feet being covered in soot... ]

I personally have to wonder if the smell would linger upon them. Admittedly, it is also quite possible it could have been washed off, but between the oils and the scent of smoke...

...You know, that is a good point. Scent does have a tendency to linger when you least want it to.

Should I smell everyone?

[He's going to ask first instead of being a creeper like that one time.]

[Plumeria looks over to Lalli, and y'know what. Nods her head.]

It might not be a bad idea to do so, just in case.

I'll ask first before smelling.

[He's learning about personal boundaries!]

I think it's not out of the question. They could've changed clothes, but there still would at least be faint hints of it.

[A pause.]

This is...only tangentially related, but Albedo wasn't at the seance last night, was he?

...No, he wasn't there at all.

[The Seance kind of happened a lot last night, but.]

Definitely curious, to say the least...

...Albedo seemed logical to a fault. I can't say that I'm surprised he didn't come, though I admit I don't know his beliefs about such things.

I would have figured he'd at least be curious about it. Logical as he was, this would have been something that piqued some kind of interest, perhaps.

[Still, Plumeria shrugs.]

But I suppose I can't say much, not knowing him well.

Were there any other people who didn't come to the seance last night? I know Sara was there, briefly, but...

[There were at least a handful of people who weren't there!]

Both Lorna and Flayn weren't.

[ nods ]

Lorna had fainted in the craft room a little earlier, so Flayn had me carry her back to their room before the seance.

Ah...poor girl.

[Constantine's eyebrows knit together in concern.]

How're you feeling today, Lorna?

[... So, Lorna has not said a single word at the trial, still kind of getting used to being awake again after her momentary fall and passing out yesterday, only to end up waking up to the news of two people dying. So for a moment, she startles a little upon being addressed.]

I'm... I'm still tired, but I think I'll be okay for now.

[He looks towards Lorna, then glances at Flayn.]

I just wanna know where you both were last night--just to make sure we at least have an idea of everyone's whereabouts.

Flayn stopped by briefly to let us know that Lorna wasn't feeling well, so the both of them weren't there if I recall...and I don't believe I saw Reika?

[Granted, Plumeria didn't keep track of everyone.]

Or the smell of blood, for that matter. I imagine our culprit must have showered at least, else one of us would be standing here covered in it.
