WEEK 6

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Three more of your number gone - or four, depending on your point of view. But regardless, you're down three bodies. The boat is getting less crowded, week by week. A loneliness only exacerbated by yet another new floor, and yet another section of topdeck. There are almost too many facilities for you to use by now, aren't there? And yet the amenities keep on coming. One of them is even personalized, this time, and perhaps not in a way you're fully comfortable with.

Who knows, maybe if your number falls enough, you'll be able to just exist permanently on the different floors. Might keep you out of the trial room for more than a week.

Are you at the point where you'd settle for that yet?

And if you look to the horizon, out in the distance... there are clouds starting to gather on the horizon this week.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to week 6, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

It is the flagship of the Federation, so it is much larger and more powerful than the average vessel. The previous Enterprise models were of similar design. They have all been retired or destroyed now.

[He crouches down to check it out further. It's a reasonably accurate representation...except for, you know, mini-golf additions.]

This is not a part of its construction. [He says of the little golf ball ramp going up the back. The hole is in the top of the saucer, maybe? It's cute. It's also very obviously not part of the ship thanks Data]

[Oh, that's precious, Data, keep pointing out what is and what isn't a feature of the Enterprise all you want okay.]

I hope that I'm still alive to see it, when our world eventually becomes capable of such things; I would like to know what sort of ships we construct, and what sort of missions they would go on. I hope they're good.

[Hm...he looks up at her at that, still knelt down by the side of the model ship.]

It is typical for developing societies to go through periods of war and unrest. But it is also very common for them to develop past that. I would not lose hope, even if things are not good initially.

[She keeps her eyes fixed on the ship, for the time being.]

I don't know how we'll be known to other worlds. Mortals tend to be an unpredictable lot. It's possible they will greet others with peace in their hearts, but just as likely that they will not.

Even so, I'll keep that in mind. ...Thank you.

I believe it is unlikely that they were remain peaceful the entire time they are developing space travel. But that does not mean anything about the nature of their species. The Federation was at war with the Klingon Empire for some time, but they are now considered our allies.

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-02 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I've never cared much for mortals, honestly; my brother was fond of them, but I never felt I had much reason to be. I don't know how I feel about them now, after all of this, either.

Though I suppose this situation is unfair to gauge them by.
ltcommandroid: (under my skin)

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-02 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
It is probably difficult to find any way to correctly gauge such a large group. There is too much individual difference.

[.....]

Do I qualify as a "mortal" in your eyes?
dokkalfheimr: (Default)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-02 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Hm.]

I would say you're different, though in a way that I find preferable. Very similar to the mortals in some ways, but lacking the traits that I find abhorrent or distasteful.
ltcommandroid: (under my skin)

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-02 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. [He arches his eyebrows a little.] It is a question I have considered in the past. I can be killed, but given correct maintenance and forestalling accidents, I could theoretically last indefinitely.

[He considers that unlikely, in truth; he's in a dangerous profession and even outside of that, things just happen. But in theory, it's possible, which is far more than one could say for any organic being.]

If I may ask - what do you find distasteful about mortals?
dokkalfheimr: (10.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-03 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
I find their tendencies toward destruction without regard for others, to the extent of acting to their own detriment, to be disturbing. Recently they've destroyed the underworld and murdered Hel, the queen of the dead, with no regards for what consequences this will bring to bear on the rest of the world. Such a thing is an abomination and a grave insult unto Alfaðör, and so it is unto us as well.

In the past, their existence was also prioritized above our own, which is something that I cannot abide in good faith.

[So, yeah.]

I feel that you, as a person, would not commit acts such as those they have carried out; I do not know if it is fair to consider you a mortal or not, but I also come from a world that doesn't have a word for people such as you.
ltcommandroid: (I am the modren man)

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-03 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
That is fair. My own world did not have anything like me, prior to myself and Lore. We have words for the theory of us, but perhaps not the reality.

["Android" is an old term, after all. It's not much to do with how they fit into society - not even, necessarily, exactly what they are.]

I am sorry that your experiences have been so negative. I do not believe it is fair to judge an entire species uniformly, but as it sounds as though they are waging war against your kind, questions of fairness cannot be your priority. I hope that one day you can have better experiences with individuals, at the very least.
dokkalfheimr: (09.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-03 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[She's quiet for a moment. Hesitating, a little.]

The mortals here have been...positive, mostly. As individuals.
ltcommandroid: (I am the modren man)

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-03 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
I am glad to hear that.

[Though, from the way Data purses his lips, he's not unaware of the fact that liking individuals here only...makes things more difficult, in a way.]

Though I suppose there has still been violence here.

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-03 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
There has. But I feel less as though they can be faulted for it here; even though it can be argued that there's an element of choice, I feel it's unreasonable to expect no one to give into temptation.

Much of what has happened was unintentional, at any rate.

[Except for like, Alice and Decus. One of whom is still walking around.]

Regardless, the captain is ultimately at fault for all of this.
dokkalfheimr: (10.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-03 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
...I feel the same way.

[Overwhelmingly so, really.]

I would appreciate having some way to do something about all of this.

Many people have expressed similar sentiments to me. But we are, at least, doing better than we have been. We were able to reach out to Calypso. Even if it is true that we will not be able to do so again, we now know that magical rituals may work here, and that we have at least one ally here.

[Also all that stuff about the dead people...?]
dokkalfheimr: (09.)

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-03 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true. However, there's a strong chance our numbers will keep dropping.

[She fixes her gaze on the Enterprise again.]

I miss them. The ones that we've lost. I don't know if they can be saved, but I do hope that they can in some way.

...If not, I hope that Lord Davy will take care of them.
ltcommandroid: (I am the modren man)

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-03-03 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
...I hope so as well.

[.....]

The confirmation that they still exist in some form gives me some hope. My world has no confirmation of an afterlife. [He knows Freyja's does, but he wouldn't extrapolate that to mean anything about his own.]

[personal profile] dokkalfheimr 2021-03-03 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What I've heard of this one seems different to anything I've heard of, even if my own world does have an afterlife that I know of. I've tried asking Lord Davy about parts of it; he doesn't know anything about what happens after they're transported to the hereafter, nor does he want to know, because he does not intend to die.

I'm hoping that they can be brought back to the world of the living. Since Lord Davy can clearly visit the place they are and yet still live within this realm, perhaps they can be transported back.

[Data nods.]

Yes, I think that is a reasonably possible outcome. We would have to confer with Mr. Jones and Calypso more to find out for sure, but we will have to do that in any case. We will need to find Mr. Jones's heart to return it to him - even if it was not necessary for our safety, we should not leave anyone in the captain's power.
