FIFTH TRIAL

[ It's not terribly long, once everything has been found, before Davy Jones heads out to round you all up once more and take you into the theatre. At least plenty of you are around the same area, so it probably doesn't take terribly long.

The ride down to the trial room is the same as ever - a blast of the organ, a slow descent. It's really starting to become clear, though, just how your numbers are decreasing. You're already down three, counting the absence of Chloe, potentially more when you come back up.

The crew of the Dutchman is singing as Jones lets you out into the trial room. ]

To business, passengers. I am about if you need guidance.

[ The circle of podiums is less populated than ever. So many of you are islands now, so to speak.

The song dies down, the waters quiet.

Welcome to your fifth trial.. ]

[Once again, Yeager is carrying a cursed sword down to the trial, but this one is a piece of evidence for Flayn to present. He's also got the iron maiden with him, because of course he does. That one's Zero's evidence! He's just here to lug the heavy Tales things around, don't worry about it. Yeager's leaving the sword on his podium and the iron maiden nearby, and he spares a glance beside him at Plumeria's podium before he turns his attention back to everyone else.]

I examined Decus' body. First of all, he wasn't wearing his usual outfit, instead he was wearing the tie-dye t-shirt under his jacket. He also had six knives stabbed into his torso. Only one of those wounds bled, and the injury there was a little odd; it was torn and messed up around the edges. Those knives were from the vending machine, of course. There was also a shallow, minor stab wound in his upper left arm. It seems that could have been made by the knives as well. [But that isn't 100% confirmed, so it isn't in bold.] Decus also was hit in the forehead with something blunt, though I was unable to determine anything more about what could have caused that. There was also a small pool of blood under him, which seems to have come from the chest wound.

Finally, he seemed ill. I believe he may have been poisoned, but I couldn't tell you with what exactly. Whatever it was seemed to be very mild, however; I think it's very unlikely that it was what killed him.

I also found this [holding up Decus' multipuprose murdergame device] next to him. As you can see, there's a heart drawn in blood on here. It should likely go without saying that Decus drew it around Alice's picture.

[It was specifically on the motive picture if you want to look for yourselves!!

Oh right, and—]

I also saw that some of the floral patterned fabric in the crafts room was clumsily cut; it seems that some of it was removed. Nothing else was tampered with.

Do we know for sure Decus drew it himself? Was there blood on his hands?

There was, ja. It was on the tip of his finger, so that matches up well. I doubt anyone would go so far as to fake that.

I doubt it, too, but I thought I'd ask.

He was definitely out to kill someone, in other words.

That certainly does seem likely.

Well, it's not exactly a surprise.

That's his sword, by the way, in case anyone had a moment of doubt. Gave it back to him this week.

Oh good, I was wondering if that was the case! It does seem to fit his aesthetic.

...the stab wounds make it pretty obvious whoever did him in was after something beyond self defense.

[Who stabs a guy like that after he's dead?? It seems excessive, even for revenge.]

True. Though that doesn't necessarily connect to whatever he did last night, since, y'know. Accessory to murder.

I would say that's true yet we can't ignore the possibility of it being connected either.

[personal profile] magycks 2021-03-06 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It could very well be both. Still, if he was really already dead and someone wasn't concealing their true weapon, that's classic overkill.

Not as if that really narrows it down, though, does it? You all liked the clown.

Plumeria actually seemed to be one of the most upset at his death so I think it might.

Plumeria is dead and unable to defend herself. I would appreciate it if we could refrain from accusing her of anything unless you have solid evidence that she did anything.

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-06 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't accusing her, Lady Freyja. I was saying it was unlikely that this was in response for Sylvando's death due to that.

[She was defending her???]

Given the effort to stop Plumeria’s bleeding, I find myself wondering if Decus’s killer was seeking revenge for her rather than Sylvando.

I think so, too. That would be the most obvious reason at least.

[Props to Yeager for carrying all this stuff.....]

If only one of the wounds bled, the others might've been made after he died.

[someone's gotta(????)]

That was my thought as well. It could have been to try to disguise exactly what happened, but given that they're all the same knives...

[Well, that one doesn't really work, does it?]
scouserer: (13)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-03-06 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Constantine nods.]

You said the edges looked strange? Like the skin had been torn up? It might be that the wound wasn't made by any of the knives.
scythegun: (REALIZE ⇝ estelle's the princess?)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-03-06 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I do think that's a possibility, but do we have any other weapons that are small enough for that? It could have been repeated stabs in the same spot, ja?
silentscout: (46)

[personal profile] silentscout 2021-03-06 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
And if the edges are weird, it was made by a different weapon and the killer is trying to hide that.

Exactly. The only question is what.
