WEEK 7
Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.
Another week, another three gone in the case alone, not to mention Chloe earlier in the week. Even as you gain access to another floor, the ship by now must be starting to feel more empty than ever. It's been a long time by now, approaching two months.
Where do you think you'll be, in two months more time?
The clouds have begun to gather around the ship, this week.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to week 7, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

[Hey, Filbo, at some point when your back is turned? Flayn is definitely accidentally knocking cinnamon into the chicken. Her sleeve caught on the container and she freezes up when it happens, but...oh, maybe she can just. Scoop it out and rinse it off in the sink? Yeah! Yeah that'll work!
The chicken definitely still has plenty of cinnamon in the mix, but it won't be cinnamon challenge levels.]
no subject
That'll be better! Tastier, probably. And as far as I know butter doesn't go up in flames if you get careless, so it really will work better!
no subject
Flayn is just going to go find some butter and hope Filbo doesn't notice the change in the chicken? And hey maybe it'll taste good? When she comes back, it's with some fancy herb butter.]
I found this! It should add some good flavors, right?
no subject
[Filbo glances at the herb butter like it's the first time he sees such a thing. What can he say, he never really went for the fancier options when it was about food. Hmmm...well, if it's expensive it probably is better? Maybe?]
...I...it should! It's worth a try! I mean, a little creativity is fine, right?
[Hoh, if he had been aware about the cinnamon he seriously wouldn't have said that, that's too much creativity even if it was accidental, haha]
no subject
[But uh, here's butter. Let's just uh...get this chicken going?]
no subject
[Filbo watches, very clearly looking forward to this. This soup will be good, he knows it!
Expectations always are way above reality, unfortunately]
Still feeling nervous about doing all this? You're about half-done.
[He asks hoping it's an encouraging question, really]
no subject
[I mean, it's not Thursday night, they should be fine, but. She also doesn't want to make Filbo sick on accident anyway?]
You will be honest with me if it is not good, right? I can take the criticism just fine.
no subject
[If honest criticism is what she wants then she'll get it, he thinks. It'll be all fine, he figures]
no subject
[She's just internally prepping herself for...well, not for Filbo to insult her? He's not that kind of grumpus at all. But she is prepping for disappointment.
Do we want to fast forward to, like...cooking the actual chicken?]

Flayn does her best here. She really does! And maybe the smell of cinnamon in the pan doesn't quite make itself super obvious. But she's very adamant about making sure the chicken gets cooked through completely before going into the soup? And it's.
Well, the good news is that it is cooked 100% all the way through.
The bad news is that it's as dry and tough as old leather boots.
But she puts it in anyway because keeping it from being raw was her top priority, and once it's in, she pops a lid on the pot and sags with relief.]
There...!
no subject
...
...maybe the chicken isn't the important part of a chicken and veggies soup.]
W-Well, the good news is that we're not getting sick with chicken, the bad news is that it, uh, it may have gone a bit overboard with the cooking? Just a bit. For future reference.
[Oh well. Too late to get that fixed, he figures it's not going to be too noticeable among the rest of the soup. Hah! As if]
no subject
Is it not important to ensure it is fully cooked?
no subject
[He probably doesn't know what that point is, really, but hey, he knows it must exist!]
no subject
Oh.
Oops.]
Ah, um, well! Surely it will regain some juciness if it is in the broth for a significant amount of time. It...it will work out!
no subject
[Hmmmm...]
But maybe you're not wrong about it regaining some juciness? You never know for sure! Just--don't leave the soup cooking for too long, I'm pretty sure that's not good for it.
no subject
[Which might take some time since the carrots are so uneven...]
no subject
[He hopes so, at least -- he did see the carrots were rather uneven. That's going to make it harder to hit the right spot. Still, at some point Filbo does suggest to take the pot off the oven, judging perhaps it had been the right amount of time.
It almost was. The most uneven pieces -- the larger ones, especially -- aren't thoroughly cooked, and the smaller ones are pretty much mush by now, but at least most of the carrot is fine...to some extent. Better this than how it may have been if the pot had been left on the fire for longer, at least]
no subject
Now we ought to both have some! Let me get some bowls...
[Flayn comes back with two modest-sized bowls and two spoons, and a ladle, and starts portioning out the soup. What, you thought you'd be alone in having to eat it, Filbo?]
no subject
Wanna me to try it before you do, or at the same time, or...?
[Filbo knows she's rather nervous about it, so he thought he should at least offer to try it before she does so she knows what to expect, hah]
no subject
[Then if Filbo suffers, she suffers with him!]
no subject
...
...hm]
...I dunno where this went wrong...
[The taste is...not what he expected. It's strange. Not horrible but also not really what this soup should taste like. Also, didn't this have peas, where are the peas, did they disintegrate, he wonders. Taking another spoonful with chicken he finds out the protein really is drier than he expected it'd be, and it already looked plenty dry. What's the taste on the chicken, seriously, what...]
...maybe...it was the fancy butter.
[So he guesses, it's what came to mind, hah. Taking another spoonful, Filbo shrugs]
It's not perfect, but it's edible! I actually think I can finish the bowl. The taste is not really...great? I-It's kinda a surprise, but even though it's not really what the soup should be aiming for it's not awful. But...improvement is needed. In some ways. Nothing practice can't fix.
[Oh, more chicken pieces]
...w-well, the chicken really got way too dry, that's--that's hard to chew. Lesson learned, anyway?
[Looks like Filbo really does feel like he can finish the soup, so that's a minor success of some sort -- the bare minimum]
no subject
Oh.
Flayn sputters with her spoonful, not spitting it out, but. Oh my gosh. The cinnamon has done something unusual to the entire concoction, which would have been fine on it's own, maybe a little bland! But this is...too much. She manages to swallow it down and presses a hand to her chest, trying not to cough.]
Oh - oh, no, please do not force yourself - that is - truly awful...!
no subject
I-I'm not forcing myself! I just--it's not really as bad as other stuff I have needed to eat in the past! Are you okay? Are you--need water?
no subject
I am so sorry, I - I have to admit something, I spilled cinnamon into the chicken while I was seasoning it! I tried to get out as much of it as possible, but obviously there was still too much...!
