FINAL INVESTIGATION
Good morning, passengers. You've made landfall.
The ship arrives at the shore of the island early in the morning, suddenly grinding to a halt for the first time in weeks. A ramp is lowered directly onto the beach, and The Captain almost immediately hops down it, laughing the whole while as he does. Jones stands on the ship, not following, and The Captain addresses you:
"Don't take too long! We have business in that lighthouse, you and I."
Without another word, The Captain heads towards a path on the beach that heads lighthouse-ward, but not before turning back again.
"And Jones! Head to your ship and ready the crew for when this is over."
Jones seems... not quite content to do this, whatever it is, but after a minute or so for any last conversation, he vanishes into a wall.
With both of your captors no longer on board, the ship is quiet. Its engines are stalled, the journey over. If you wish to survive the day, you're going to have to go onto that island and face The Captain once and for all.
But first... there are some areas you definitely haven't explored yet! If you're going to go in with all the information you need, might be time to take advantage of this situation...

What nifty notes have been left behind?]

He’s using a computer and that blasted machine of his to gather up souls for the ritual. Either he’s a fool or someone is standing behind him who I cannot see. Either way, every Cutler Beckett meets the same fate in the end.

What
Is this like. In reference to summoning them all here? Or capturing the souls of the dead? Either way we're going to keep reading. What else of note has our pal Davy left behind for us?]

He refuses to tell me where the devil he came from, but he is who he is. I know the type - and I know that his type would not on his own seek out my power. Not for this. Someone who knows of me is instructing him. I WILL find out who, and they will pay.
I have assumed my role as stern nanny to this lot. There are some among them who I imagine will lead them to trials before long, and some I am sure will surprise me.
They seem keen to speak with me, despite my position. Curious. Will they feel the same knowing I am their executioner, I wonder? Compassion will bring naught but foolishness, yet I find no reason not to indulge theirs. So be it - let them play at saving my poor soul.
I admit, as the weeks go on, there are some whose company I do not mind. It will be a shame to see them go, should they fail. At the least I will grant who I am able a place upon The Dutchman, should the ability arise.
I did what I was able, to grant Lorna a swift death by her own power. She showed courage, I will grant her that. I imagine she would not take a position on my ship, yet -- it is irrelevant now. They continue onwards.
I find my interest in seeing Jack’s patron thwarted undercut by a desire to see these mortals succeed. Perhaps Calypso was right - age has caused me to go soft.
I do hope Freyja was satisfied with that.
It dawns on me that “vengeful ghost of a pirate” narrows things down very little as to who exactly I am actually in the employ of. If this is Teach somehow, I swear
Time to hope they emerge victorious, I suppose. If you are reading this, good luck. Everything in here is yours to use as you need.

She'd like to at least visit your ship, once. For a year perhaps. Be on the Dutchman, help you do ghost pirate things. And the aside to Calypso is good to see. Maybe he really did like them after all. (Not that Flayn doubted it.)
Who could "Teach" be, though. Claude used to call the Professor that in passing - she doubts it's Byleth.]
Everything in here is ours to use as we need...
[Then if there's nothing else on this sheet music (she'll scan the front, check the back) Flayn is going to take it and begin rifling through the desk proper.]

Too complicated? The man has no mind for puzzles, even simpler ones- better safe than sorry. ]no subject
Also, "the man"...could the puzzles have been meant for someone other than themselves?]

So he really was trying to help us this whole time - he could not do so directly, but if we discovered the information on our own, then that is a perfectly acceptable loophole.
[Look at you, using your brain. Bless.
Anything else of note about these papers or should Flayn continue rummaging?]
