FINAL INVESTIGATION

Good morning, passengers. You've made landfall.

The ship arrives at the shore of the island early in the morning, suddenly grinding to a halt for the first time in weeks. A ramp is lowered directly onto the beach, and The Captain almost immediately hops down it, laughing the whole while as he does. Jones stands on the ship, not following, and The Captain addresses you:

"Don't take too long! We have business in that lighthouse, you and I."

Without another word, The Captain heads towards a path on the beach that heads lighthouse-ward, but not before turning back again.

"And Jones! Head to your ship and ready the crew for when this is over."

Jones seems... not quite content to do this, whatever it is, but after a minute or so for any last conversation, he vanishes into a wall.

With both of your captors no longer on board, the ship is quiet. Its engines are stalled, the journey over. If you wish to survive the day, you're going to have to go onto that island and face The Captain once and for all.

But first... there are some areas you definitely haven't explored yet! If you're going to go in with all the information you need, might be time to take advantage of this situation...

But yeah a gnawing sense of unease is pretty much every day on this boat, so he can move that to get at the note! What does this say?]

[ Thankfully, it's pretty straightforward: ]

There be four pieces to this weapon - the base, this something gold, and something silver. I built a base in my room, break off one of the posts of the bed.

I suspect one of the other pieces is elsewhere on the boat, and the third somewhere in the room where you will face him. When he is defeated and weakened, and only then, assemble the pieces and the staff will tell you what to do.

Under no circumstances should one person hold all three component pieces at once until you assemble it.

[A weapon you say???? Well, that warning at the end is certainly ominous, he'll be sure to keep that in mind. So this terrifying tricorn is a piece of this weapon, huh...? Sure, he'll hold onto it. Can't be any worse that the existential dread he's been dealing with for like a solid month now, nbd. Something silver, though... Probably not the key?? He's got that with him anyway, though.

The base is in his room... that's probably where Flayn and Zaveid are; he'll go check with them in a bit. Anything else interesting about the note or the room here?]

[ Nope! You've gotten everything in here, unless you want to grab a prop or two for fun! ]

[Listen he absolutely would have if he had any room to drag around extra stuff but sadly he doesn't!! All of his bag space is filled with weapons and those are more important than props. So sadly he will have to leave them behind.....

Anyway, he is going to head on over to check what Flayn and Zaveid have found, buuuuut first he's gonna go investigate the bed - should I move that investigation over there or just continue here?]

Looks like one of the legs has been carved weirdly, yeah! The bottom looks pretty narrowed down, might make a good break point. ]

[!!! Excellent, that seems to be exactly what he's looking for! You know what that means - time to break it free without telling the other two what he's doing!! Will this break free easily enough with a strong enough force or is he going to need the scythe, because he is not opposed to taking a scythe to Davy Jones' bed, but like. That's a little much.]

[ No, actually! It's just carved in a very precise series of thicknesses.

When you hold it, you are slightly more aware of the copper hat in your pocket, and its strange aura. ]

[Two of three, excellent. I mean a little dread is definitely worth having part of a very important weapon that we'll likely need!!! But the third piece, hmm... Well, we'll deal with that soon enough, probably. Time to take this and head out to rejoin the others!]
