Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[After that entire...display by the Mayor, Forrest just leaves with very few words to most people; he proceeds to make his way to Suite 1, where he...surprisingly violently slams the door, and it takes him a while to emerge again. It's difficult to say what he's doing in there; there's no sound outside of the room to imply that he's doing anything at all. Maybe he isn't. It's hard to tell.

He'll be out a little while later, though, sitting in the lobby in one of the small sitting areas; he's claimed one of the little coffee tables, and on it is...well, that sure is a random assortment of crap out there with him. He's toying with the crystal ball in particular right now, just turning it over in his hands and looking very intently at it, but that doesn't stop him from greeting anyone who approaches him with the usual smile and gentle look in his eyes.]

If you're interested in anything I have, you're welcome to it. I don't have much use for this, I'm afraid...

[...Either he bounces back really fast or he's very good at being like this for some reason. Either way, he seems in an almost unnaturally calm mood, especially given his reaction to the motive.

That night, however, will find him standing near the glass in the meeting room, just...looking in, a very intent look on his face that seems far more in line with the situation. He'll drop it as soon as he's joined by anyone else, though, shifting seamlessly into something far more delicate and pleasant.]

Oh... Did you want to spend some time? I'm terribly sorry, I can go if you would prefer.

[When they're brought into the room and Fontaine does his spiel, he looks pretty annoyed but not... surprised, before he gets to the actual reveal.]

...I expected something like this, I suppose, but I wonder...

[And of course, it goes bad for everyone! Cool. It's time to step up and be a cool leader guy and--wait. wait why is this sweet baby lizard there... okay. Try not to be. Try not to be upset. He's good at that. Well okay he's upset but he's pretending not to be upset.]

...For all we know, this could be some trick. We should not act rashly.

[He's trying very hard to sound convinced. He should have expected something like this specifically but man.]

[That sure was a motive! That sure was a motive Rossiu would really prefer to not focus on right now!! So immediately after that, he makes his way to the library, where he is going to continue reading to try to not deal with any of that. This goes about as well as you'd expect. You can find him either listlessly flipping through something that he really doesn't seem interested in actually reading or you can find him scouring the shelves for something that will keep his interest and get him to stop thinking about the motive... either way, he's on-edge and not enjoying the library nearly as much as he was earlier.

After a little while of this, Rossiu finally gives up and leaves. He stops by the vending machine to deposit some coins... and the results are not exactly kind today. He picks up the knife with a stormy expression.]

This is intentional, isn't it?

[He's not going to stab someone, who do you think he is???? Anyway if you want your stuff, now would be a good time to pick it up!

After that, he spends the rest of the day in his room. Feel free to stop on by if you want?? But once night falls, his curiosity finally gets the better of him and he returns to the meeting room. Rossiu stands before the glass, hands folded behind him as he watches the hostages. Though he initially appears pretty composed, it's obvious after a moment that he's trembling, just barely keeping that composure intact, even though the hostages can't see the reaction anyway.]

[Mafuyu hasn't really left the meeting room yet, so she's here when Obi returns with all of that. There's silence, at first, before--]

...What are you doing?

[She tries to follow his line of sight to---]

... I dunno how to tell you this, Big Guy-- [actually, she does, she fought in a war.

That doesn't mean she's very good at it. She tries to put a hand on his back if he lets her, but she's not exactly the image of comfort.] -- but I think it might be too late for that one.

[Oh, cute... And also definitely a mood.]

I've always greatly enjoyed learning, and while I still do have a lot to learn about my own world... this is entirely unexpected. There's so much that I never could have imagined that truly exists in other worlds. It's incredible.

meeting room

[...Well here's someone who's arrived with some paper, pens, and the intention of sitting down and never leaving.]

Hey. [He's trying to maintain some kind of chipper-ness, but it's...kinda hard.] Make sure you don't fall asleep here, alright? Seeing you get publicly humiliated is gonna be way less fun for me than it was with Jonathan.

[Eventually--who knows who finally gets Adaman to actually move, though eventually, Leafeon will take matters into his own hand to bite his trainer's hand surprisingly hard to draw him back into reality, and he'll just...

Well, he's going back to Suite 4, Room D for a while--a long while, at that, though the door isn't closed at all. Leafeon is just...kind of going to go off on his own to the garden, for the time being, and Adaman is going to patch up the bleeding little bite he's sustained. But truly, all he can think about is his sister, the woman who helped raise him being trapped in there, and it's just...

It's too much to think about. The ringing in his ears just won't stop, and he's just in no state to respond to much at all. Hisui's harsh, but Mai has always been strong, always, and the thought of losing her...

Well. Later on in the evening, Adaman himself will be going to the meeting room, and he seems...inclined to stay there, for a while. Leafeon isn't content to join him in this, but he finds himself staring at all of these people late at night and just...

Well, if he sees you, he'll turn over with a tired smile. It doesn't quite reach his exhausted eyes.]

Ah--I beg your pardon. I can leave if you wish to be alone.

[...Of course, Adaman resolves himself a little bit very late at night, and it's there that he seems content to be patrolling--sure, it looks way more like pacing in such a state, but he's never been content to sit and waste time. He can't. He knows he can't.]

[While everyone else is having emotions, Joy just... stands there. Fontaine is right, in a way. The person she'd hate most to see here is on the other side of the glass. The thing is? She's not concerned.]

Well. That's your funeral, Fontaine.

[Evelyn Wang is on the other side of the glass.]

[Zinda's still around, watching the others like--

Well. You know. Her eyes briefly flicker over to the Obi pile.]

... If it works, knock the little blonde one out.

[Sure as shit did!! Adaman perks up when he hears Rossiu's voice, waving to him from where he's seated on the ground before chuckling.]

Ah, yes! I believe I mentioned him at the garden gathering! [Leafeon seems to perk a little bit, jumping down from the shelf he's currently occupying and going over to Rossiu curiously. He's pretty calm, all considered.] Rossiu, this is my partner, Leafeon! It seems that the dreadful machine kept him captive, but now, he is among us!

[Leafeon lets out a small noise in response to that, perhaps one of assent.]

[The moment that Hagakure hears the announcement, dread begins to pool in his stomach because he knows exactly what this is going to be. However, knowing what's to come isn't an advantage, not really. Because he can be manipulated by these motives as well as anyone else.

You see, the very first motive of the Hope's Peak killing game involved a recording. A very ominous recording. Ever since Hagakure watched his tape, he hasn't had a clue whether his mother is alive and well or not.

Not until he sees her on the other side of the glass.]

Mom!!

[He shouts out in relief before the Mayor can even finish explaining the motive. In the moment, it doesn't click with him that this is very much still a bad thing.

But the gravity of the situation quickly crashes down on him, and that relief is replaced with the terror that he felt when he watched that tape for the first time.

He slams his hands against the glass, shoulders trembling. Hiroko Hagakure doesn't notice.]

Leave her the hell outta this! Maybe I deserve this, but she doesn't!

I wasn't expecting an objective analysis.

[It's okay Gaius, you can gush about your kids!! Anyway, this is cute. Look at you go.]

I'm glad she's doing well. How old is she now?

[ Unfortunately, Mayor Fontaine Responds. ]

You doubt me? I'm wounded. Not to say I didn't expect someone to think I was bluffing, but I'm wounded. Hurt. Aggrieved. But you all come from places with magic and holograms and other dime-store novel hokum, so...

[ He clears his throat. ]

Let's see... let's see if Mister Oliver's missus feels like talking, huh?

[ A screen on the opposite side of the hostage room similarly lights up. ]

Kimberly, would you mind confirming really quick that you're real? Got someone with doubts on my end.

[Ah, the mystery of the passage of time in a library... Rossiu nods because yeah that one does legit make sense.]

I take it even that isn't particularly effective, given you've likely had to reload it a few times by now.

[...okay, he might sound faintly amused now.]

Leafeon... It's nice to meet you.

[It seems only right to be polite to Adaman's partner??? He's still not sure he understands Pokémon.]

He's unhurt? I truly do not understand how the vending machine works...

[ A woman with short hair and a very dangerous expression turns to the screen. ]

Oh, so now you feel the need to grace us with your presence again? Whatever associate of yours doesn't think I can and will put my whole fist through your cowardly face the instant I can if you don't let the civilians out of here...! There's children in here, for god's sake, tell us what you want with us, or I swear—

[Well, Misfire's been here for a while. He greets Adaman with a lazy wave.]

Don't worry - it'll be nice to have some company that can talk back. [He leans back in his position of sitting on the floor.] Which one's yours?

[timegazer]

[Ah, Hagakure! Adaman's quick to get himself under control when someone else gets here at least, but he can't help break out into a grin at the other man.]

You know, that would be quite like them, wouldn't it? Perhaps that is why they are coming to us so quickly--they have forged an unbreakable bond to be free, together, and perhaps that is an example we should all lead by!

[Leafeon, for his part, makes a little amused noise as Hagakure goes over to check him out! He even sniffs Hagakure a bit before preening just a bit. Pets? Pets for him??]

I am so very glad to be reunited with him, though! I can't imagine that being in the dark was good for a Grass-type like him at all...

[Joy gently takes his arm, trying to at least turn him away from the captives.]

Let's go try to figure this out, huh?

[Obviously, the meeting room is going to be the place to be today. Mafuyu is going to be there, uh... all day, basically. She's leaning against the glass, either not looking at much in particular, or staring right at Miku in her corner.

But if you get closer to her, you might realize that she's not actually quiet. She's... singing?]

Hello - I opened the window, and softly whispered out
How are you? There's no one here, I'm alone in the room
Morning - The morning's come, a morning of pouring rain
Tick-tock - Somebody, wind up my coil...

[...yeah, she doesn't look like she's going anywhere, unless someone makes her. At least she doesn't seem too bothered by anyone else being in the room with her.]

[ Annnnnd the soundproofing returns! ]

[ Well. It takes absolutely zero seconds when the lights go on that the pieces start coming together and Hild... immediately leaves. Slightly in a hurry. It's probably fine. It doesn't even seem like she's noticed who's in the group, which is probably the point.

If you're watching the other group long enough, it probably doesn't take long to figure out who the one with the similar appearance is related to, as she seems to be inspecting the room's structure toward's the back, making some kind of comments over her shoulder. ]

[ From one all-dayer to another. Hodaka largely has...not really ignored others in the room? But he's focused on one person and one person only. It's only because he's been here for so long that he can tell, the soft singing that draws his attention...

And it reminds him, other people are suffering too. How self-centered of him. He's looking into a room of 25 other people...and still— ]

...Asahina...san? [ He ventures softly. Cautiously. ] What are you... What're you singing?

[Because the vending machine seems content to throw us all of the pets in the world!!

Either way, Leafeon perks when he hears he's being greeted, and oh! Hello there; Leafeon's expression shifts into a pleasant one as he jumps down from the current shelf he'd been exploring, trotting over to Forrest with a little Leafe! in greeting.

...He does seem to understand the question though--he goes back up to the shelf for a moment, before making to look like he's...falling out? But he lands on the ground easily because he is good at taking a landing, so he's. At least trying to communicate!

That's about the point that Adaman comes over with a few books in hand, looking around the room, and--]

Ah, Leafeon! There you are; I had hoped that you would wait for me before taking-- [Oh!] Forrest, hello! I see that you have become acquainted with my partner here?
