Week 2

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

Agreed. Since breaking it seems to not be an option, perhaps dislodging the glass will be necessary.

[Aiba's human form appears. It's far easier to gesture when you look like a human, hah]

Would you be able to push onto the glass until it pops out of the frame on the other side?

[ Come early thursday afternoon, those in suite 1 can see Seo Dawon...cooking! He's changed into the tie-dye shirt and jeans considering that a suit has no real place in the kitchen, and he's got all the burners on. There's an assortment of ingredients out: eggs, tomatoes, rice, beef, soy sauce, cucumbers... Whatever he's making smells delicious, so feel free to bug him or try to sneak a bite if you think you can escape his watchful eye.

By dinnertime Thursday he takes all of his finished dishes to the meeting room, managing to juggle several large plates like he was a waiter or a butler at some point in his life. There's tomato and egg stir fry, pickled cucumbers, beef bulgogi and of course plenty of white rice. ]

You haven't forgotten to eat, have you?

[ He thinks for a moment, hand tapping against his chin. ]

After my staff, there's really not much else I can think of either. There's a lot of miscellaneous things in my inventory, but I doubt most of it can be used here, like health and mana potions.

[kninja]

[At least Obi's not trying to sneak up on him this time. He's not even wearing his usual dark colors, though he was earlier.]

...If you're gonna stay in here, try not to fall asleep.

Ah... You know about her?

[She doesn't sound entirely unsurprised; someone knowing Miku isn't too strange. But she doesn't expect anyone here to, with how different every world seems to be.]

Yes, that's right. I know she looks a bit different, but... it's her.

[inaclearing]

[Brett nods and comes to sit as well, taking a chair from the table.]

...who've you got in there? If you don't mind my asking.

[honeyedtea]

I see. When you put it like that, it really does sound quite exciting.

[ She smiles at the thought, but there's something a little but glum to it as well. ]

I could almost be a little jealous of this Lady of yours. It must be wonderful to have such a trustworthy friend to rely on.

[inaclearing]

[I mean "better than Jonathan" seems like a low bar, but he'll take it. Especially since he's pretty sure the guy killed Dracula or something.]

Alright.

[Brett watches carefully and imitates the movements - he's precise and observant, at least, both qualities that make him a good student.]

Oh, you don't have to worry about me picking up the sword. I don't know if I could even use a gun, if I had one.

[inaclearing]

She's a friend. That's her, in the red jacket. Peregrine Wells.

[A dark-haired teenage girl. She's tense, but seems to be taking things a little better than some of the others - she hasn't cried, at least. She's still trying to figure out a way out of the room, from the looks of things, maybe directing one or two others in a careful search.]

I was surprised it wasn't Luca. But Peregrine was in town with me - I saw her the day before I got taken here. Maybe that's all it was...

[Though Brett sounds as though he's got a few other ideas about it.]

Should've picked the group differently, if he wanted the odds to be even.

[Brett, at least, feels like it's incredibly uneven. To his detriment in particular. It isn't that he wants to hurt anyone, of course, but he's fairly sure he couldn't defend himself effectively against most of the others - even a lot of the kids.]

I know he said he didn't pick most of us, but..."most".

Oh, I was just here to read... I've been making a habit of finishing a chapter or two of my books in here. It's not quite the same as being able to sit outside, of course, but...

[ She trails off, and then shakes her head. ]

Well, we're all making do, as it stands. It wasn't my intent to disturb you. [ ... she should leave it there, but she can't help but give in to her curiosity and follows that with: ] If it isn't rude for me to ask... when you speak of an "daily offering", what is it you're referring to?

[kninja]

[...Hm.]

It's not always easy, is it? Making good friends.

[inaclearing]

Sure.

[He'll join Hodaka then, sitting on the ground nearby. He hasn't brought any food for himself; he ate earlier, away from here. After a silent moment or two, he adds:]

...I know it's hard not to...dwell on it. I don't think you should all the time, but...it's impossible to never. [She's not dead, of course. None of them are. But it feels very similar to him.]

[kninja]

[Good, good! Obi will keep showing him as long as he needs to get a decent punch going.]

--What, like, a cannon? Yeah, those are kinda hard to manage unless you know what you're doing.

[inaclearing]

Like a handheld one. I could have learned how to fire one - maybe not in the city, but a lot of people around Whitetail hunt.

[Punch!]

Not me, though. I've seen them, I don't have the stomach for that.

meeting room

[ Because Hodaka is barely anywhere else, and it seems he's just missed Joy's yard sard with his own attempt at a vending machine grab. It's proven useful, as he returns with some mangos and an apple and a whole hard-boiled egg, so no one can get on him about not eating. He even made sure to feed Rain, and the little kitten's nestled in his arm.

There's no reason for anyone to scold him for spending as many waking hours in just this room as possible.

What he also brings with him—in a makeshift bag as the t-shirt he received is big enough for him to swim in—is a peculiar children's book. It looks different from a lot of the things he's gotten...and trying to read anything else right now has proven a little impossible with how scattered his mind is. This is the state he's in when he enters and finds Joy. ]

Joy-san... [ He hasn't seen much of her in the last few days, by virtue of...well, not really leaving here. It occurs to him only now that he's been skipping early morning exercises.

And...just how irritated she looks. ] Ah- sorry.

[ He sets his makeshift meal on the meeting table and lets Rain wander. ]

[ He's taken note of her, when she's interacted with Hina. That's how he's taken note of anyone, only in relation to Hina. ]

Mm. Like Hina-san... [ He trails off. That's where he tricked himself, though. Hina's strong, it's true. But Hina's in need of care just as much as anyone else. ] ...Is...she family? You two look...

[ Similar. But he doesn't want to presume. ]

Oh, uh... Well, I was...living more...

[ He trails off, as he turns his head to see Hagakure still in the doorway. ]

...You can come in, you know.

[withagun]

[ You gotta find the silver linings when they come to you, you know? ]

He's pretty easygoing...but I'd start up on his head. You wanna let him sniff you first, but after that just go down his spine— ah, but not the tail. He'll probably think you're playin' and start swatting at you.

[withagun]

Why? What were you doing?

[withagun]

What do you think of them? The strange things.

[withagun]

Oh. I hadn't realized... [ That she's American. But, it makes sense, doesn't it? The principle of it all. ]

...Mm. I...think I get it. No one wants to stand out or...go against the grain...and in that situation...you do automatically.

[ No one, he says, but it's a little...not quite bitter? Just uncomfortable. Just sad. ]

[timegazer]

[Adaman chuckles, just a touch--it's softer than his usual, a lot more subdued.]

She is; she's my sister. [...] She's...also the one who helped raise me into who I am today.

[timegazer]

[...HE...SEES...

Adaman's face kind of...goes on a journey at all of that, but the fact that this guy apparently couldn't even say anything but his own name at first...well, Adaman's look shifts to one of concern.]

...Just what on Almighty Sinnoh's green earth did they do to him? [...] Unfortunate as the circumstances were, for all of you--he did not deserve that. I am...most glad, that he had someone looking out for him. Even if it was initially for the wrong reasons.

[He did not miss the 'use him'. Adaman isn't going to bring that up further, though his tone is serious.]

How has helping him gone? I imagine that he was doing much better under your care, than he would have been...?

He did, yes! And he seemed no worse for wear, either--I was particularly worried about the lack of sun in there, but it seems like he didn't have any problems at all!

[Leafeon is absolutely responding well to those pets, good lord. If anything he's practically nuzzling into Hodaka's hand a little bit--you humans are all so strange and new and friendly.]
