Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

My youngest would like it, I think. At least, she would be the one to admit it.

It is rather cute, I can see why she would.

Ah, Allie is… hm. Well, I suppose it is difficult for a parent to be objective about his children, I suppose, but… well, she was terribly ill when I first found her and her brother, so I am glad that she has grown up to be a happy and healthy young woman. Between her siblings and my men, we may have spoiled her a bit, but she is kindhearted and capable, so I suppose I cannot complain.

I'm glad she's doing well. How old is she now?

Ah, she is sixteen summers. Just old enough to enlist this year.

[Huh... On the one hand, that seems a little young, on the other hand a couple of fourteen year olds went to fight the Spiral King, so like. He has no room to judge.]

Have they? I suppose they're eager to follow in your footsteps?

Very eager, for just about as long as I have known them. I had initially planned on finding them all good homes, but one morning they mobbed me and said they wanted to repay me for taking them in and ignored all my protests...

I do try to be a good example for them, at least. I was a bit reluctant to take them on at first, but I am glad that I did.

I'm sure they can take care of themselves, but... I certainly understand the concern. I hope you're able to return to them soon.

I ensured that they were provided for in the event that anything were to happen to me, at least. I do not believe there is anything that would prevent the arrangements from going through.

It's good there's a plan in place for such a thing, but... it sounds as though you aren't sure you'll be going back to them?

I did tell you about the circumstances prior to my arrival here. I will be plain and say that I genuinely do not know what awaits me upon my return, but I doubt it is anything good.

I am admittedly unsure how the time differential even works or if we will be returned to the very moment we left or… anything of that sort. Even so, I made something of a gamble that seems as though it paid off poorly, and the Empire does not suffer failure on that scale.

I'm sorry, Gaius. Perhaps once we've learned more about how exactly we were brought here it will shed some light on a path forward.

I have no intention of simply rolling over and dying, whatever happens. I need to evaluate the situation when I return and chart a path from there, as if the scale of the destruction Lahabrea has wrought is as I suspect it to be, I have a score to settle with him.

It simply makes the prospect of any reunions far more complicated.
