Week 2
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?
While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.
Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

But when Forrest speaks up he turns, not exactly bothered by the interruption given that it's far better than being lost in his thoughts right now.]
It has, yes. That's to be expected, I suppose, given the point of this.
[Thanks, murdergame!! But yeah, he imagines Forrest is calm for the same reason his response is so evenly measured - because someone has to be.]
I'll be fine. It's something of a shock; I was expecting someone else.
[His gaze drifts back to Simon, who still seems to be doing just fine despite the situation.]

[He finds somewhere to sit down, just nearby. Smooths his dress out. There aren't any wrinkles in it to begin with.]
Is it one of your friends...?
no subject
...Yes. His name is Simon; he held the position of Supreme Commander before I did.
[Despite the initial hesitance, the rest of his words are even, if not completely accurate.]
no subject
[That your friend was brought here, that this entire situation is happening. For a lot of things, really.]
I don't want to think anyone here would murder anyone else; I don't like thinking badly of people. But it seems more like an inevitability now. I do hope that I'm wrong.
no subject
[But looking at all of these people, well...]
It only takes one person in a moment of weakness to decide to act on this. As unfortunate as it is, I'm sure it will happen.
[Though his tone remains steady, his hands are shaking again and Rossiu moves to fold his arms to hide that.]
no subject
...I think for now I'm going to try to believe that we won't. That we're stronger than that. Killing someone is a highly deliberate act. It's harder than most people realize.
I don't want to believe that we'll give in to this.
no subject
Neither do I. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong and that we'll all make it through this. That no matter what, we can come together and rise above whatever the Mayor has to throw at us.
[It's what Simon is undoubtedly believing right now. And something about that actually does get him to settle; Rossiu folds his hands behind his back again and this time, he remains steady.]
That may be the most we can do right now, but that belief is very important.
no subject
[And that does seem genuine; he's been pleasant this entire time, but now there's just a bit of warmth to it.]
I want to continue to do what I can to help. Even if the situation seems dire.
no subject
[If not even moreso! But hopefully no one will get stabbed and require medical treatment.]
Thank you, Forrest. I needed that reminder.
[That his more pragmatic and practical approach isn't always the right one. You can hear the soft refrain of row row fight the powah if you listen closely.]
no subject
[He smiles a bit at that.]
I told you that I was fairly good at talking to people.
no subject
[Or at all!! He doesn't like inflicting his problems on anyone else.]
no subject
[His gaze darts over to the glass, trying to follow where Rossiu was looking earlier.]
Is that one your friend?
[...The one who's actually reasonably chill about this and looking like pretty much the exact polar opposite of you.]
no subject
The one in the rather bold outfit, yes.
[That is not a shirt, Simon.]
He's overcome overwhelming odds many times, so I have no reason to worry about him. It won't stop me anyway, but if anyone can find a way to get them all out of there, it's him.
[He really does sound certain of that, at least!]
no subject
[Even if he is wearing a tremendous pile of "what." He's pretty sure that's not a shirt???]
If you trust him, then I trust him too.
no subject
[Well. Okay, so Rossiu helped get him to that point and Nia was there encouraging him and also helping with the final fight, but it's not like Rossiu knew about that part!!]
After that, he encouraged us. He endeavored to help everyone find a place in the new world we were building. He was patient and kind and refused to give up on anyone or to turn a blind eye to those in need. Even when he clearly wasn't enjoying his position, he understood the importance of it and did his best.
[It wasn't perfect, not by a long shot, but Simon tried really damn hard and that means something.]
But he's a fighter at heart, and I think he's happiest when he has something to fight for. So yes, I trust him.
no subject
Having someone like that as a leader... Well, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little envious! He sounds incredible; I can see why you believe he'll be able to help everyone in there.
no subject
[It won't be long before everyone in there will want to row row fight the powah, probably.]
no subject
[In, you know, the worst-case scenario and we all have willpower and don't just straight-up merc someone.]
no subject
[okay but that would be damn hilarious though. murdergame over week 1, everyone go home.]
no subject
That's what I'm thinking, yes. So the situation is still bad, but it's far from hopeless, I think.
no subject
[Ganbatte, hostages. You've got this!!]
...Once again, thank you. I'm sure many of the others will find talking to you to be just as helpful.
