Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[ That's smart! Hodaka has simply just never left and has nothing to do. Didn't even bring his cat. ]

I won't. [ Hodaka seems firm and certain, in this. ] I'm not gonna fall asleep and leave her here alone.

[dullshooter]

Right.

[Misfire doesn't want to lecture the kid, because that's not what he does. He's aggressively not the guy who lectures. But he can also tell that Hodaka's probably not thinking the most rationally right now.]

'Cause - I'm not an expert by any means, but - I think at a certain point your bodies just force you to. Or it starts going crazy.

[ Ah... Well— ]

...I...can't leave her. Even if she doesn't know I'm here... I won't.

[dullshooter]

[It sounds like he’s not gonna budge, so -]

Alright.

[Why push it?]

How about this: I’ll stay here, and the second you start reaching critical sleepy levels, I’ll come up with a comical and inventive way of waking you up before Fontaine can whisk you away.

[ Oh.

For the first time, Hodaka looks at Misfire. ]

You'd do that?

[dullshooter]

[He nods.]

Yeah, I would.

[withagun]

Even though you've...got better things to do than sit around and just...babysit a kid?

[dullshooter]

You’re significantly overestimating the value of my time.

[He laughs a little with that.]

It just so happens I came here to babysit anyway. For that guy in there.

[He points to…well obviously it’s gonna be the giant robot in the lineup.]

Don’t see why you can’t come as part of the deal.

[withagun]

[ ...Huh. Well... Hodaka honestly doesn't know what to do with all that so. Instead— ]

Who is he? Your... [ The word hostage sounds wrong. ] ...that guy?

[dullshooter]

He’s Grimlock. You can’t tell on account of the soundproof glass and the face plate, but that’s pretty much all he can say - “Me Grimlock.” The rest is just noises.

[He realises that’s not much of an explanation.]

He used to be this terrifying guy. Leader of the Dinobots; a group of ‘bots that turned into Dinos. We just kind of…found him, and picked him up in the Scavenger way.

[They have a habit of collecting people. Misfire was a collected people, once.]

[ If he were less completely depressed right now, the very concept of the Dinobots would be the coolest thing Hodaka has ever heard. For now, however, he just lets out a soft noise of admiration. ]

He...needs help and you...take care of him?

[ He wants to make sure he's got that right. ]

[dullshooter]

[The complete lack of reaction to the existence of the Dinobots does illustrate just how dire the situation is. Geez.]

Yeah. Crazy, right? Who’d have seen that one coming?

[withagun]

I don’t think it’s that much of a surprise.

[ Softly, ] You’re nice, Misfire-san.

[dullshooter]

[Misfire starts to laugh right off the cuff, ready to brush off the comment, but something gives him pause. Maybe it’s just because the situation is dire right now, or because it’s Hodaka, or a combination of the two - but when he says it with that kind of sincerity, he lets that laughter fade from his throat.]

You…really think that?

[withagun]

[ He nods. It's not with the boyish gusto Misfire has seen at times, nor is it overly timid. ]

I do. You've been very nice to me.

[dullshooter]

[Well that’s. Um. Ah.

What does he do with that?]

…Geez. You better live long enough to start questioning your judgement of character. [He exhales a laugh, and claps Hodaka on the shoulder.] You’re not bad yourself, loser.

[withagun]

[ He can't bring himself to smile. But— ]
