Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[ Well, food is made to be enjoyed!! Hodaka turns his attention to the miso. ]

Ah... Sorta. 'Til recently I was mostly, you know... I didn't really have a sit down breakfast. But, I learned how to make one recently, and...I like it.

[kninja]

Yeah, it can be fun, and it’s a good thing to learn to do for yourself. Useful, you know? I don’t get why people act so surprised when I tell them I can cook.

[He bobs his head at the miso.]

Can I try some of that?

[withagun]

Sure! Once it's done, and once it's had some time to cool. You can have one of the tamagoyaki, though! They shouldn't be too hot anymore.

[ He pokes at the tofu he's added before nodding and turning the heat way down. ]

I gotta...get it to stop boiling, and then add the miso paste...

[kninja]

Ooh, thanks! I haven’t eaten all night.

[What’s he supposed to eat that with, his fingers? Well, that’s what he’s doing.]

[ Fingers is fine! Like, chopsticks is best but Hodaka is feral. ]

Obi-san... [ He frowns a little. ] No wonder you were drawn to this if you hadn't... Take another, if you want. But take care of yourself too.

[kninja]

Haha, now, now. I ate dinner when I was supposed to, I just didn't think to stop for a midnight snack in between. [He grins.] Thanks for looking out for little ol' me, though!

[He pops the tamagoyaki in his mouth and his eyes pop open.]

Mm! Mmmmm!

[withagun]

[ Hodaka squints over from the miso. ]

Are...you saying... You stayed up all night?

[kninja]

Mm-hmm!

[And he's perfectly happy about it.]

[withagun]

Why? What were you doing?

[kninja]

The same kind of poking around most of us do during the day. In my experience, things are often different at night, and I thought I might catch something that's less obvious when the lights are on. No such luck tonight, though.

[withagun]

Then when do you sleep?

[kninja]

I was just about to go lie down when I smelled your cooking.

[withagun]

—Ah. I've distracted you.

[kninja]

Nah, my tummy did. Didn't realize I was so hungry!

[withagun]

[ ...Hodaka frowns. ]

Take more. And I'm finishing up the miso soup soon. Some of that too.

[kninja]

Hahaha. Okay, okay.

[Obi takes more as directed.]

Guess you're the type to take in strays after all, Li'l Daka. Thank youuu.

[withagun]

Ah- q- quiet... [ fdsaf. don't make him squirm while he makes breakfast—

It won't take him long to be finished. He works the miso paste into the soup, gets it all mixed in. The rice cooker beeps not long after. Just like that, it's a little meal. ]

Here you are, Obi-san.

[ Some for Obi, some for Hodaka, some to save for tomorrow morning. ]

Thanks for the meal!

[As he eats, he makes sure to hum happily so Hodaka can know how much his kindness (and cooking) is appreciated. It's fun to embarrass him, after all.]
