Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

My father would prefer that I'm kept a secret; he seems to hate me. So if I have any official duties, I certainly don't know what they are. Participate in the war against Hoshido, I suppose. Take the throne if everyone else dies. I was fourth in line before the war.

I ask because I was your age, when I rose to power in my country. It is a heavy burden to shoulder... maybe too heavy, in retrospect, but that is neither here nor there — the point is that, as a leader, you are responsible for the well-being of your people.

[ This is absolutely not something that Nandor learned as the ruler of Al Qolnidar, a nation he got driven out of for being too shitty! This is something Nandor only partially internalized like a month ago! ]

And now a threat has been made, not just to myself, but to all of [ ... ] my people. So, you know... going through some stuff right now.

So the threat that we've been presented with carries significantly more burden for you than it does the rest of us.

[Or...something. Nandor is just kind of an experience all around but he's pretty sure that's the gist.]

I'm sorry. I truly am, even though I know words may not be worth much right now.

Basically, yes. I mean, he is a fun guy, but the consequences... little more dire than just losing him.

My kingdom is currently under the rule of my grandfather, so it isn't directly under threat from this, no. [...] Not that my grandfather is a particularly good person, but at least Nohr hasn't gone under or anything.

It's someone important to me that doesn't deserve it. But I think that can be said about most in there.

Indeed. It is a fate I would not wish on my own worst enemies... which is mostly because I would relentlessly slaughter them on the battlefield instead, but the point stands.

[ He opens the library door. Realistically, would it have taken them so long to get there? Probably not, but you know what, sometimes you just forget to write literally any action along with your dialogue and you gotta roll with it! Sticking his head inside for a better look: ]

[He imagines that if anyone was asleep in there, they certainly aren't now, goodness.]

...I don't particularly expect a truthful answer, but I feel that I should ask regardless - I assume you're considering acting on what we've been told?

[ He gives the door a look as he closes it, like he's concerned about being listened in on. ]

I mean, I pretty much just admitted it to you earlier. [ And then he outright says it anyway, which is objectively just as damning as being heard by someone else. ] Nonetheless, the words of the large-haired man give me pause. The situation we are in is not a matter of simple killing — it is also a matter of evading notice after the killing is done.

... This may come as a surprise to you, but I am not a subtle man by nature.

[The mention of the large-haired man kind of gives him pause for a second, before deciding that this was probably Hagakure and not Dandy that we're talking about here.]

Several of us aren't exactly subtle people. I imagine that will help serve as a deterrent, the notion that we'll have to do this without being found out, but...

I don't know. I won't particularly blame people if they try anyway. I want to believe that they won't, but...

It is only natural to feel this way, [ says a guy with absolutely no understanding of what is natural or what feelings are. ] But your feelings are not what will do the slaughtering, should it happen. It will come regardless... and typically, it is weapons.
