Week 2
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?
While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.
Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

Certainly not by killing. We'll find another way.
[He has no damn idea how they're going to do that, but for now... keeping that hope is the most important thing.]
While it is a difficult situation, it is good that he's confirmed that. I'm glad she seems to be doing alright.
[Sure, there's no doubt that she doesn't want to be there, but she's alive and well. It must have been very difficult for Hagakure to have no idea this whole time...]

[He smiles for the first time as he watches his mom help Kim comfort some of the younger captives who are having a harder time dealing with the situation.]
I bet she's given Fontaine so much crap already. I wish I could hear it.
no subject
[Because they are absolutely going to tear the Mayor a new one.]
Will you tell me about her? She seems like a kind woman.
[Willing to immediately look out for the kids despite the difficult and undoubtedly terrifying situation... that says good things about her.]
no subject
[In a way, it's having to confront the fact that she's really in there head-on, but at the same time it's nice to get to gush about his mom a bit.]
She's a registered nurse, so she's real good at dealing with and helping people. She practically raised me by herself too, since my dad's been out of the picture for a long time. Through thick and thin, she's always been there for me, making me laugh, supporting me...
[He turns to rub at his eyes a little.]
She's the strongest person I know.
no subject
She certainly sounds like it. You're very lucky to have a mother like that.
...I'm sure she and the others will be just fine until we can find a way to free them.
no subject
[If nothing else, they've got a little connection there, having such similar upbringings... A shame that one of them ended tragically, though.
He turns to Rossiu again, his smile not having faded.]
That's what I'm thinkin' too. They probably wouldn't want us to mope so much over this either, even though that's easier said than done...
[Hagakure's figuring that Rossiu is struggling too, even though he's usually so stoic... Hm. Would it likewise be good to bring up Rossiu's captive? It's worth a shot.]
Hey, so...if you don't mind me askin', who'd he put in there for you?
no subject
[But Hagakure's right, and he can practically hear Simon admonishing him for it already. It gets his expression to soften a bit, and Hagakure's question gets a nod.]
Simon, the former Supreme Commander and... a friend.
[He points out Mr. Row Row Fight The Powah himself; as always, Simon seems to be doing just fine, chatting it up with the others and presumably trying to keep everyone calm.]
Seven years ago he defeated the Spiral King and since then, has served as a beacon of hope for us to rally behind. He's truly inspirational - no matter the odds, he will always come out on top.
no subject
So that's your beacon of hope... I totally get it just by looking at him. At least that group's got a lotta strong people to help keep morale up.
["Former" Supreme Commander though, huh...]
Are you sharin' a job with him, then? Didn't your profile say you helped beat the big bad guy?
no subject
I joined Simon in the fight against the Spiral King, yes. He piloted Lagann and I piloted Gurren; Gurren was damaged fairly early on in the fight so there wasn't much I could do beyond watch.
[...after he regained consciousness, anyway.........]
Simon was the one we all agreed should be the leader following the Spiral King's death. He was our first Supreme Commander. But due to... several factors, I inherited the position.
[That is the most bare-bones description of what happened that is only barely accurate, but he tried. Getting into it beyond that is... difficult and not something he's done, but given his gaze has gone back to Simon and he looks a bit unsure about the words, there's definitely more to it.]
no subject
[Anyway, he listens to the rest of Rossiu's story, and while he doesn't expect to get the full story, it's enough for him.
He directs his gaze back to Simon too.]
I mean, he's still your friend, right? I'm sure there's no hard feelings about it. You've definitely got the leader-y chops in my opinion.
no subject
[He doesn't know what a mecha is despite being from a mecha series. It's fine. But anyway, that...]
I am glad you think so. I've been doing what I can to assist our people in a time of crisis, so I have some experience.
[Which is... sort of putting it mildly. But the rest of that troubles him greatly, as evident in his expression.]
...I know he doesn't. He's told me as much himself. But I...
[Perhaps if Simon weren't there, acting like nothing's wrong despite the horrid situation, Rossiu would shut his mouth and go back to internalizing it, because it isn't something anyone else needs to hear. It isn't something anyone else should have to deal with.
But he does keep talking, because Simon is here, and he still hasn't processed everything that happened.]
He is an exceptional fighter, but he isn't cautious. His actions resulted in a large portion of the city being destroyed. I used that to my advantage; to take power for myself and blame him so the people would listen to me. I did it because someone needed to step up to guide them, but my actions were inexcusable. Unforgivable.
[His hands shake at his side, though his gaze remains firmly on Simon.]
...He chose to forgive me anyway.
