Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[Oh. Uh. Okay, this is happening. Rossiu stares at this tiny little thing holding the chair like it weighs nothing... and then watches it crash into the glass and bounce off harmlessly. He returns to stare at the thing. This. This is so much.]

Um... Hello?

[Might as well try a greeting!! Maybe this is another creature from the vending machine. Is this a Pokémon??]

Hello. Be careful where you stand. Throwing objects forty times my size is difficult to control for me.

[Aiba isn't winning any prizes for having good aim]

...I would imagine it would be, yes.

[Probably not a Pokémon. He's pretty sure they don't speak??]

My apologies but... who are you?

[The voice does sound familiar...]

I'm me. Good to meet you face to eye for once, Rossiu.

[Aiba lifts up the chair again]

[Oh. Oh!!]

Aiba? Ah, your profile...

[That's right, the height listed was really odd, especially when generally the information seemed to be correct. He always assumed that it was just a mistake, but...]

So this is the real you?

[And then, on the heels of that—]

The form you were showing before - was that a hologram?

[It definitely looked way more realistic than their own holograms, but given the advancements made in that field recently, it may not be long before they can come up with something similar. Fascinating...]

Correct. Augmented reality -- projected right into your eyes. Had someone walked into us at any time, they would have seen you talking at empty air.

[She regularly does it with her partner, although not exactly the same because she can send the image directly into his brain. These days have been the first time she uses such projection function with other people]

Fascinating... We've only just started to experiment with holograms so it will certainly be several more years before we've reached that point.

[But yeah only a few short years, nbd.]

I thought I noticed some odd things occasionally - you did seem to suddenly appear sometimes. I wouldn't have caught on had you not revealed your true form, though.

[Which brings him to the main question...]

Why have you chosen to reveal yourself now?

The person who programmed me calls me and my functions 'nothing short of miraculous'. I concur with him.

[Very humble, Aiba.

Aiba throws the chair, it once again doing nothing at all. This really isn't working. Giving up for now, Aiba jumps on the chair, to at least be closer to talking height with Rossiu]

...I must reach my partner. Were he not here, I would have tried to keep myself hidden for as long as I could, but with him trapped there, I reorganized my priorities. [Aiba glances at the glass wall] I can't do everything in my power to reach him if I stay hidden.

[Aiba has so many professional and personal reasons to need to get in touch with Date. Everything else is secondary]

[There goes the chair, again... but at least Aiba seems to have decided it isn't working for the time being. Rossiu glances over at the hostages when Aiba continues.]

That's fair. I don't think any of us were expecting this.

[For the Mayor to get impatient and try to speed this up? Sure, but not this specific motive!!]

Which one is your partner?

[As response, a diamond-shaped form appears in the air, and inside it a moving portrait of Kaname Date. It's so much easier to explain things and communicate when you finally can do your usual trick of using images to back you up!

Curious thing, one of Date's eyes in the portrait has a yellow eye the exact color of Aiba. The real one, though, has that eye closed all the time. It's pretty easy to guess what's up with that]

Kaname Date, special police agent. Before Mayor Fontaine explained the situation I attempted to contact him, but...of course that was futile, being in different worlds.

Now that he's here, perhaps some progress on getting out of here can finally happen.

[Apparently Aiba is pretty confident they can do something! As long as they're together, though]

[Oh, neat!! Huh, that would explain why he has his eye closed over there...]

I certainly hope that's the case. We'll have to find a way to free them first, though.

[One that doesn't involve murder, but that goes without saying as far as he's concerned!!]

In normal circumstances that wouldn't be necessary -- his brain has a receptor that captures images and sound I send. However it seems this room is blocking even my signals.

That Mayor...he's too clever. It's frustrating!

[Frustration that is a bit assuaged by throwing chairs at the glass, haha. Give her a moment she'll throw it again. Bam!]

[There it goes... But that's so fair, Aiba.]

He would have had to think of everything in order to bring them here, but still... the fact that he has the means to block even that... It's a bit worrying.
