Week 2

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to the second week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, and you can reach either Mayor Fontaine or Eleanor for conversations! ]

"Shima" is your...classmate, wasn't it? Who did this before?

[He remembers that much, at least.]

And you don't have to apologize either. It's a difficult thing to talk about, and feelings are hard to sort through in times like these besides.

I'm... Well, I'll be all right. I'm worried about the others here, if anything. But all I can really do right now is check in on them when I can, and keep believing that they're good people, and none of them are going to act on this.

Yeah, Junko Enoshima was her name.

[From his tone, it's not a name he really likes saying all that much for good and obvious reasons. But it's not like "the mastermind" is that much better. In general, it sucks to have to refer back to her so often here, even if it's helpful to.]

I'm glad you get where I'm coming from, though. You really do seem to be in touch with the whole...talking things out, thing. My class really could've used someone like you.

[NAEGI...TRIED, BLESS HIS HEART.]

But yeah, I'm trying to do the same- believing in them that they're not gonna act... Man, it'd be so much easier if we weren't stuck to this one little spot of the city while Fontaine's so far away. Then we could try to just end this without having to play his stupid game.

Life in the army is hard. We're often far from home; we're trying to stop the perpetual war between two countries and so we're hated by both of them. It's stressful, and it's dangerous, somewhat like it is here.

I've found that there's a lot of value in just being willing to talk to people and make sure they're all right, and in really listening to them if they're having problems, even if they're minor. Being willing to see the good in people, and to work with them even when seeing the good in them is difficult, is also something that I've found a lot of worth in.

[He pauses, though, once that's out there.]

...I do agree about Mayor Fontaine, however.

[A small amount of shock appears on Hagakure's face before his expression falls into something more somber.]

Man, I so easily forget that you were in a legit war back home. I really shouldn't be so surprised you're good at this and managing to stay chill here when you're dealing with that on the regular.

You've definitely got my respect, for serious.

[Like, dang. He can't even imagine the sheer level of patience Forrest has!]

It's all right. I admit that it's been nice to be among people who...

[He trails off a little, not sure how to say what he wants to say without being offensive to somebody. Give him a moment...]

Civilians are different. War does strange things to people; it's certainly taken its toll on my uncles and my father. In a way, it's been nice to spend time away from all of that, events of today notwithstanding.

[Today is an outlier that shouldn't be counted.]

I think I get what you mean.

[He's obviously never been involved in a war, but he can imagine the stress has gotta be monumentally taxing. Life-changing, for sure.

...]

It's too bad the situation is what it is, though. 'cause we really do have a wide range of people here, huh? It's been pretty dang cool at the highest points.
