Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

No, no, it's all right. As long as nothing happens to them in there I'm fine, and it doesn't seem that anything is going to at the moment.

[He finds somewhere to sit properly, in one of the chairs nearby; he fusses with his dress a bit, even if there's nothing wrong with it.]

It feels sort of odd to watch them for a long time like this, but it feels wrong not staying with them for at least a little while. I'll probably try to leave them be afterwards, most of the time.

It is weird. I don't think Peregrine would like it - me just sitting here and watching her like this.

[For several reasons, really!]

I just don't know what else I can do.

I don't think Midori would like it either, but on the other hand I know she would be doing the same thing were our positions reversed.

[...Midori would probably be crying but doing her best to not be a mess, but she'd be here.]

Who is Peregrine, if you don't mind answering?

She's a friend. That's her, in the red jacket. Peregrine Wells.

[A dark-haired teenage girl. She's tense, but seems to be taking things a little better than some of the others - she hasn't cried, at least. She's still trying to figure out a way out of the room, from the looks of things, maybe directing one or two others in a careful search.]

I was surprised it wasn't Luca. But Peregrine was in town with me - I saw her the day before I got taken here. Maybe that's all it was...

[Though Brett sounds as though he's got a few other ideas about it.]

...There are a lot of younger ones in that group. I imagine that to be on purpose.

[Says the seventeen-year-old already in this situation, but that's clearly beside the point.]

...yeah.

[He says it like an admission.]

I think that's a part of it. If it were Luca...he wouldn't expect me to hurt an innocent person to save him. I wouldn't expect it of him, either. But Peregrine...

I don't mean to say she would want me to do that. She wouldn't. But I feel responsible. I...haven't always done everything I could have for her, in the past.

...I know what you mean.

[And he does; Midori wouldn't want him to do anything to anyone here, either. But there's a sense of responsibility for Midori that he wouldn't feel for anyone else.]

I don't think I could forgive myself if something happened to her.

...yeah. God, her poor mother.

[Kathy'd be all alone, and for what? Because somebody just wanted to get at Brett?]

I've only known her for a year or so. I can't help but think, if I'd never gotten involved...
