Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

You sure you can't convince that guy to let you make a few friends?

[He gestures over to Date, who has been there this whole time and Misfire has barely acknowledged.]

Why'd he keep you on such a tight leash for?

My existence and those of other AI-Balls are a secret. The place that created me is a special branch of detectives and investigators, so...the general opinion is that the world isn't ready for me.

[Not even Date's own roommate didn't know her roommate/adoptive father had an AI in his fake eye, and she has lived with him for four years. Since a bit ago she knows, but it took literal life-threatening adventures for her to find out]

I'm supposed to self-destruct if taken by a nefarious individual, like it happened now. Since there are backups for my data and I update them constantly, I would just get downloaded into a new eye.

[dullshooter]

Wait.

[Wait a second.]

[He motions to Date, then circles a thumb and forefinger around his own eyelid.]

His eye? You’re not just an AI eyeball, you’re his? AI eyeball? In the most literal way that sentence can be said?

Correct. It's very literal. Replacing the left eye with an AI-Ball is a normal procedure for agents in that organization.

[Kind of unpleasant to think about, really]

And you have to see everything he does?

[His repulsion is misplaced.]

You learn to tune out everything after a while. I have been with him five years, I can handle anything.

[At least until in the sequel Date tries to watch a VR video of women in bikini splitting watermelons in the beach. Aiba got so fed up she pretty much ran away]
