SECOND TRIAL

[ After sufficient time has passed, and you're all as ready to avenge dear Obi as you've ever been, Mayor Fontaine speaks. ]

Alright, that oughta do it. Pack up the evidence and head to the bathyspheres, same as last week.

[ There's yet again a line of spherical submersibles back there, ready to take off as the citizens of New Rapture climb aboard one or two at a time. And one at a time the bathyspheres descend into the abyss below New Rapture, deeper and deeper, once again to the dome on the seafloor, lit all around by bio-luminescent... slugs, of some kind? They're a little closer today.

The ring of podiums still sits in the center, just like last week. Two more podiums are going to stand empty. Two more dead. By the end of the day, best case scenario? It'll be three.

The projector clicks on. Mayor Fontaine is as here as he's gonna be. ]

I can confirm this. I found matching bloody marks in the garden; said marks looked as though something had been dragged in the direction of the pool. The marks were around the size of a body and were consistent, with nothing to indicate someone stopped dragging it for very long.

There was also a large pool of blood in the garden. Within it, I found this.

[He holds up a vending machine combat knife! He was very careful with it so as not to cut himself or disturb the evidence. However, he doesn't recognize it as coming from the vending machine so someone else is gonna have to notice that.]

There's something odd about it as well - the blood is only on one side, the side that was facing up.

[The side that was in the grass is still clean if you want to double check that!]

Perhaps the blood bag might factor in here? They could have emptied it onto his body to make it seem like he died from bleeding out.

Much of the blood seemed to be centered around the stab wounds that were less likely to kill him... And the angle was different to the one that would have actually damaged his lungs. Perhaps the intention was to cover which of the wounds actually killed him, and maybe draw less attention to the fatal stab wound at his side.

To...hide the fact that they knew how to do that, maybe?

[Brett knows it takes training to kill with a single blow like that, even if he'd always sort of bowed out of those talks.]

That's certainly a possibility, yes. There was a good amount of blood, and I was unable to discern any sort of pattern or anything.

[Though admittedly his experience with murder and crime scenes is basically nonexistent. So.]

Does that mean he was watchin' whoever it was when they did it?

What an ass! And I don't mean the awesome kind.

God, I know we're not sure whodunnit, but the longer this shit talkin' detective session goes, the more angry I get!
