Fourth Investigation

It's hard to tell that - of if - the motive has passed. The radios are the same, there are no missing powers, the day begins like any other. But there's something heavy hanging over you, the knowledge that, well... it's Friday. And unpleasant things happen in New Rapture on Fridays.

While we would love to say it's remotely quiet and peaceful, we can't. Helios Suites and the grounds around them are body-free, at least, but... there's a series of booming noises coming from somewhere else in New Rapture, echoing through the empty halls.

Looks like the game is afoot, citizens.

DARK RIDE

[So uh. He followed in here after the announcement but boy he is not ready to deal with whatever the hell happened to poor Dandy today, so!!! Instead, there's other evidence to be found in this location, starting with... the drained water!! Sure, let's go with that and not think about poor Dandy over there.]

The water has been drained - if he looks around, he'll find a control console near the entrance where that can be done! ]

[Fantastic, he has a pretty good understanding of tech and he can feel halfway useful investigating that, so let's take a look at this! Does it look like someone just smashed some buttons or something or is this control console looking about how it usually should?]

[ Control console looks pretty normal! Someone knew what they were doing here. They also turned the overhead lights on, more than the natural light provided by the dark ride itself. ]

[Just to clarify, how simple is this control panel? Is this something that anyone could figure out with clearly labeled buttons, or is it a bit more complex that would require some technical know-how to operate?]

[ It's pretty simple! Relatively well-labeled, and all you really need to do is push some buttons. It's safe to say anyone would be able to figure it out with some trial and error. ]

[ SO, UH... HOW ABOUT THAT BLOOD... ]

[ There's a lot of what is def blood, by all appearances, but something seems... a little off about it to you, specifically, Nandor? You can also tell just how much of it is around here, which is A Lot. ]

[ Off like blood bag blood, or off like "not human" blood? Just... just asking before he has to lick a crime scene....... ]

[ It's sort of everywhere around Dandy's body, particularly around his torso...though! If you don't want to just, uh...scoop some up while everyone's investigating his body, you'll have noticed some before, about midway down the track. That also comes with a bit more evidence! ]

Zinda steps forward, closer to the body. First off-- how's he tied up?]

[ He has been lashed with rope to the ride scenery! Woof! ]

Are there signs of struggle?]

[ Sure are! In general from the ropes, he's got some rope burns around where he was tied up. ]

well aiba's got the weird scanning thing going on, so she's not too worried about (...investigation wise, personally wise, she's extremely worried but that part of her is packed neatly away right now) the wounds themselves on the body--

Anything else to notice about the body itself, or anything immediately around the body? How about the rope tying him up, do the knots look professionally done, or-- ]

[ They sure do look professionally done!

As for things around the body... Well, it's a little ways away, but there's something on the ground that looks like it doesn't belong in the dark ride. ]

[It takes around fifteen minutes after the announcement for Aiba to appear, flying in direction of the dark ride, the rotor on top of her head whirring. When she sees the body...]

[There are benefits to being a little eye, and one of them is that she's very hard to read. Makes it easier to hide her thoughts.

[Her voice sounds...surprisingly strained, despite the somewhat monotone voice. What can she say, the sight of Dandy does hit her harder than she thought it would]

Well, first off, someone seems to have brute force cut their way into his chest and removed his heart! His ribs are broken as well, in the general area. ]

[So, how clean is the ribcage breaking? Does it look like it was hit repeatedly? Are there any signs of like...sawing and stuff?

Uf, it's a good thing AI: the Somnium Files is HORRIBLE MURDERS CENTRAL because at least it means she can find this kind of stuff without reeling back]

The chest has been carved in, and the heart removed. From the way the ribcage is splintered, one can tell it's not one single injury, but the ribs were hit repeatedly until they broke...

[Goodness gracious, who had it out for this man.

Aiba focuses, zooming in reeeeeal close, looking for certain signs...signs that might tell if this all was done post-mortem, or if he was still alive when it happened. There's plenty of blood either way, that's for certain, but she searches for anything that could hint if he was still alive when...all this happened]
