Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

Another week at the bottom of the sea. You may start to mark the passage of time by the increasing number of people you seem to be bleeding each week - look how few of you there are now. Nearly half your number gone, and for what? The shadowy machinations of some madman? You've met some others, but they seem unable or unwilling to solve this problem for you. Time marches onwards.

In the abyss, New Rapture starts to wake. It's small things, for now - the lights of a building here and there, the flicker of a neon sign for some small business. The restoration of this city continues.

Speaking of this city, there's a new branch of your little slice of it to explore. It's certainly the most picturesque of the branches you've seen.

There's more to see and do, citizens of New Rapture. And hey, there's coins to get, too.

[brett's near-constant repression of his emotions briefly wars with the urge for chaos]

[Brett reflexively smiles back.]

Sure. I wasn't gonna use it anyway - I don't have that magic touch.

... I'm pretty sure if you tap into your weird inner music, you'd be able to.

[Brett, you really gotta admit you're from a musical.]

[YEAH YOU KNOW? Brett didn't make a lot of it after the first trial - frankly, no one really brought it up to him directly aside from a lot of weird reactions to his summary of events at the trial, and after that he was also just traumatized. But people have really been on him about it this week?]

Okay - [Brett shakes his head.] - okay, be straight with me for a minute -

[A pause as he processes what he just said, and then inclines his head. Go on, say it.]

We've literally never been straight with each other but, yes. Go on.

[She's contractually obligated to say this.]

[He nods in solemn acknowledgement. The Gay Contract is fulfilled.]

So we both know that Zinda's from some comic book, right? And Jonathan is literally just from Dracula.

[These, while still sort of disconcerting, are not new. Brett's known this for a while and sort of...incorporated it into his worldview about as well as he's gonna.]

Am I from a musical? Is that a thing? Am I like Count Olaf and I look and sound exactly like some actor and I don't even know it? Because everyone has been saying some really weird stuff to me lately, and I'm not even that into musicals.

[He didn't really go into this with the intention of freaking out about it, but it's low-key happening.]

Deep breaths, dude. Don't freak out on me, but yeah. Sometimes you just sing and also you kinda look like some guy on this show I only watched because I have the hots for Hayden Panettiere.

[She just sounds, like, so exceedingly calm about this. It's the multiverse! Weirder shit has happened to her.]

....... Nashville? Look, it's chill. I look like Broadway actress Stephanie Hsu. Jonathan looks like hot, young Keanu Reeves. People have face twins all over the multiverse, it doesn't like. Make you fictional.

I - I guess. But it feels a lot different when it's happening to me. And when apparently there's all this singing I don't know about?
