Week 8
Good morning, New Rapture. The long night is ending.
Your number is as low as it's going to go. You may not know it for sure yet, but there's something in the cold New Rapture recycled air that suggests maybe things are about to change. An act of defiance against the Mayor actually panned out, and now... the mysteries of the underwater city are beginning to finally reveal themselves to you. How much has been just smoke and mirrors, like the execution room? How much has been real? And how much longer can your captor continue to avoid granting you answers?
No new wing of the city, this week. There are still offices to explore in city hall, if you'd like, but in general you get the feeling that it's going to take a change to make the next new information available. And make no mistake: change is coming, my friends. Stay strong. Stay together. Get any last coins in before the end.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to the final week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, reply to the endgame planning post, and you can reach either the Mayor or Eleanor for conversations! ]

INVESTIGATION
Brett takes the entire troop out to the lake, where Blake can swim and catch fish, Cruger can do his dog thing, and Papyrus can...run around with a stick. That's probably fine.
For his own part, Brett is stretched out beneath a tree near the edge of the lake. It's a spot where he isn't really visible from the main path, unless you venture closer. Seems like he's sort of trying to avoid people. That's not to say he's being particularly wary; actually, it kinda looks like he's starting to doze off.
So much so, in fact, that later in the afternoon he appears several feet above the pool and falls in! He flails for a minute before hauling himself out, and sits on the side spluttering. Great. Perfect. Exactly what he wanted.
After that...well, there's nothing to do. He doesn't really want to talk to anyone, and he doesn't exactly have any useful hobbies to work on. So he finally slinks off to city hall to see what he can find with that indigo key. The first office he'd come to that it fits is #7, so let's start there!
Pretty late at night, he finally breaks down and goes to the restaurant for some food. He won't be lingering here long, as when it finally arrives he's definitely gonna just take it back to his suite, but you can still catch him while he's flipping listlessly through the menu or lying down in one of the booths waiting.]

There's a portrait of the guy too, at least. ]

Yeah, let's see what this dead creep had in his desk first.]

From the desk of Jasper Sitwell, Founder of New Rapture
[ Notably, none of the stationary lists what he DID as a Founder. Maybe the notebook in the bottom drawer might help? ]

[He'll just take this with him. If that's it for the desk, how about the closet?]
no subject
Those cases are full of immaculately maintained modern firearms. Damn, how many men did it take to make this? ]
no subject
But no one else is around. He stares down at them for a moment. Howl would have known how to use all of these. So would Peregrine. With him, survival has been a fluke. There's absolutely nothing he's done, no reason he ought to be here when others aren't. They would have deserved it.
...is there anything around here he could use to break the glass?]
no subject
no subject
- yeah okay, he's gonna try for a minute or two but he definitely can't break this! And he doesn't know how to pick a lock either, because of course he doesn't, so...he'll just fold all of this back into the closet.
Is that it for this room?]

...Brett, I know you are not doing particularly well, but this is not the best place to take a rest...
no subject
I'm fine. And I already got dumped in the pool once today, anyway.

[...]
Honestly, though, I am concerned...
no subject
Just waiting for my food.

[...]
I believe I now know why all the food is so... excessively gourmet. Though I suppose it is not entirely a surprise that there was some unnecessarily intense chef was behind it all...

[It's dull, disinterested, but he does perk up slightly as he adds:]
Valerie was the one who ran the bowling alley. I guess we've got her to thank for nachos.
no subject
[He nods.]
I suppose I am thankful for that, even if her tastes seem... idiosyncratic otherwise.
no subject
[Normally Brett would probably go in on the details and lore, but he just...doesn't.]
Her girlfriend's, too.
no subject
Did anything explain why the vending machine just spits out seawater every so often?
no subject
no subject
Given everything we have seen from the vending machine, I am not at all surprised...
no subject
[Brett's quiet for a moment, drumming his fingers against his stomach.]
Hey...did -
[He cuts himself off, takes a breath.]
Did, um. Anyone ever hear from Forrest again?
