WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

[ Wednesday morning, all the ladies (including you, Angel) get an invitation slipped under their door. It's pretty simple-- We're having a gathering in the library at 7pm tonight. Come if you'd like; Angel might be there, too.

Bring extra blankets and pillows!

And sure enough, anyone who makes it to the library tonight will find it transformed! (On the outside of the door, there's a flashy, hard to ignore sign stating that, indeed, no boys are allowed.) Inside, there's a blanket fort and plenty of extra pillows and blankets, courtesy of Della. Zerinda's grabbed a few things from the bar, if you want to go that route. Ema's brought in some desserts, too, and Mira's supplied some not-so-healthy food (fries, nachos, mozzarella sticks, that sort of fare) and drinks--hot cocoa, of course, but she'll take requests!

On the activities side of things, Mira's made a couple decks of cards--pretty basic, but like, what's a girls' night without card games, probably? There's Monopoly here, too, if you want to ruin your friendships. Zerinda's brought in some flowers and materials to make flower crowns, and Mira has a book on flower symbolism with her that she's willing to share.

And, of course, Daisy's here too! Come pet or snuggle a good dog. ]

[ There's absolutely no shortage of chocolate here, that much is for sure. What with last week being a disaster, and this one on thin, thin ice, the answer to the problem (and, really, most problems) is delicious dessert, in Ema's eyes, so she's laid out a complete and utter smorgasbord. An assortment of cakes, trays of brownies, plates of cookies, an ice cream bar with all kinds of flavors, and plenty of fruits, too, just in case there are a few of us who are more health-inclined! ...She'll judge you silently if you take one, though, so maybe it's a little better if you don't--

She spent a nice chunk of the afternoon in the art room, working on her beautiful, beautiful sign. Not only is it covered in glitter and absolutely huge, with big bold letters stating the obvious, there are little poorly-drawn doodles of each of the boys with a big red circle and a line through their faces. You know, just in case some of them happened to conveniently forget how to read. ]

Masterpiece.

[ Let's conveniently ignore that it's a bit sad that there are only six--

But in any event, she's here, in her pajamas (though she's still wearing her pink glasses over a dark green night cap, as if it's kind of fashionable--), and she's brought a cootie catcher! It happened to be a little easier to make than she remembered; significantly more simple than anything she could make with yarn, at least. If you're looking to have any of your burning yes/no questions answered, she's your girl! Of course, she's more than happy to join in any other party games and give Daisy some attention, too, while she's here. ]

[Anna is very much not in her pajamas, just wearing her school uniform, and she raises her eyebrows at the sign.]

I'll have you know that I worked extremely hard to perfectly capture each of their essences, thank you very much.

[ They all look a little red in the face, and have tiny puffs of steam coming out of their ears, as though they're all more than a bit miffed that they're barred from entry.

It might be a little jarring, to see Birkin and Kirei looking like angry cartoon characters, but that's just how it be. ]

It's better than my crochet work, though, wouldn't you agree?

It isn't falling apart, so yes. Do you really think they'll be all that unhappy not to be here?

[This is all so exciting! Rose is visibly jazzed about absolutely every part of this!]

It's a game that I used to play at parties like this when I was younger. It's a fortune teller! You get to ask it any question you want, as long as you can answer with "yes" or "no," and then I'll ask to pick from a couple of options. After I do that a few times, it'll tell me an answer!

It's not totally serious, but it's pretty fun. We used to ask things like, "does my crush like me back," or, "am I going to pass math this year," or stuff like that! You know, things that we thought were serious business back then.

Well, I just wanted to make sure it was very clear that this was supposed to be for girls only.

But maybe I went a little overboard? Hopefully they don't get the wrong idea...

I believe they will understand.

[Or rather, she thinks that most of them wouldn't have tried to sneak in anyway. The only one who seemed to be of that nature is thankfully slain.

I... am simply surprised at your dedication to making sure of that.

[ Mira's generally around, sort of... keeping an eye on things. If you need something, she is your girl! Every so often she goes to grab more hot cocoa, and more snacks if necessary.

More specifically, you can find her with that book open in her lap, weaving some sort of flower chain--she's making quite a few, and for the most part, they're made with the same flowers: purple hyacinths, lilies, and forget-me-nots. Each one has a unique flower in there, though... huh.

Or, she's here sketching out portraits--if you want one, feel free to ask for one!

Later at night, she looks like she's thinking pretty hard about something..... And then she just says, out of the blue-- ]

... Do you really think there are ghosts here?

[ Listen, she hasn't stopped thinking about it since the meeting. Don't @ her. ]

It's likely, if they exist here. Of course, they say it's more likely for a ghost to haunt somewhere it wants to be rather than wherever it was killed, but I wouldn't put it past some of them.

[ For a moment, she looks absolutely horrified... but then she tries to play it cool, and she gets up. ]

... I'll be right back.

[ She's gone for, actually, some time, and when she returns, she has a piece of scrap wood from the work shop with letters painted on it. Oh No. ]

If there are ghosts, we can figure that out very quickly. But I'm not convinced there are.

[ .... except, like, it sure does sound like she's convinced there are! ]

Probably not. [Zerinda is just very casually back to back with Mira on the floor, relaxed and still weaving flower chains.] If there were I'd gave felt them by now. [Zerinda, you're detached from the- never mind.]

You think so? I didn't know you could feel, um... spirits.

Back home, when humans say there's ghosts, it's usually some kind of Gem thing.

[Or nothing, but they really only go and investigate the ones Garnet says they ought to, so she mostly sees the Gem-related ones.]

I don't know if they're really real or not.

Back in my world, there are a lot of films and such about them, but.... I've never encountered any.

[ thankfully, her tone suggests.... ]

[ That's her secret: She's never sure about anything! ]

[ This is a great way to focus time and energy. Much better than dwelling, and panicking, and all that.

Della spends her time enhancing the blanket fort with any extra sheets people have acquired. She's a bit of an expert in this particular area, you see. With that... ]

Alright, people, who wants to share stories! We don't have any scary movies, but- but I've been on plenty of adventures, sooo go ahead! I'm an open book!

Ohhhh, ohhhhhh that's a big question. [ She starts listing things off on her fingers. ] There was that time we went to Hades...but we didn't really find what we were looking for. Beating Nostradogmus? Ehh, baking Donald into a cookie was funny, but that one was more stressful. Meeting the vikings in Iceland... Maybe... Oh!

[ She perks up. ]

Oh. No, I know. It was the first adventure I went on with one of my sons, in Boarway!

[ Angel does indeed show up! It's late - after night-time for sure - but she does show up for at least a little while. Unless someone chases her off, of course, but... she shows up and mostly keeps to herself. It's a little hard to connect with a sleepover when you can't, you know, sleep?

She does at least grab some food and drinks, though, but mostly she seems alright to just kind of... sit in the corner and watch. It's what she's used to! But she won't say no to company. ]

[Nira's also been keeping to the side a bit, mostly smiling at everyone else's antics. But she does sit by Angel for some of it, wanting to make sure she's alright. She starts when the ouija board starts moving, though, looking over at Angel.]

Have-have you seen something like this happen before?

[ Angel is definitely sort of... hanging back from the whole Ghost Business. ]

Uh... this place being haunted? No, but I can also say I've never tried to contact a ghost.
