WEEK 5

That's three murders now - and this last trial got more than slightly out of hand. It looks like you might be in for another tough week... or at least, maybe that's just the refusal of this place to change too much. You lose Saturday again, but maybe six-day weeks are starting to feel normal by now. Who knows? The cycle of day and night continues apace, changing so little.

Speaking of change, though, there's a new area to look through, the biggest and most complex yet. And the end of one wing of the facility, from the looks of it - though you can probably guess where more areas might start to open up.

And speaking of opening up (segues!), this week if you're out particularly late, you might sometimes see Angel out and about! So hey, maybe change is on the horizon.

Just gotta hope it's a change for the better, don't you?

[ Mira's generally around, sort of... keeping an eye on things. If you need something, she is your girl! Every so often she goes to grab more hot cocoa, and more snacks if necessary.

More specifically, you can find her with that book open in her lap, weaving some sort of flower chain--she's making quite a few, and for the most part, they're made with the same flowers: purple hyacinths, lilies, and forget-me-nots. Each one has a unique flower in there, though... huh.

Or, she's here sketching out portraits--if you want one, feel free to ask for one!

Later at night, she looks like she's thinking pretty hard about something..... And then she just says, out of the blue-- ]

... Do you really think there are ghosts here?

[ Listen, she hasn't stopped thinking about it since the meeting. Don't @ her. ]

It's likely, if they exist here. Of course, they say it's more likely for a ghost to haunt somewhere it wants to be rather than wherever it was killed, but I wouldn't put it past some of them.

[ For a moment, she looks absolutely horrified... but then she tries to play it cool, and she gets up. ]

... I'll be right back.

[ She's gone for, actually, some time, and when she returns, she has a piece of scrap wood from the work shop with letters painted on it. Oh No. ]

If there are ghosts, we can figure that out very quickly. But I'm not convinced there are.

[ .... except, like, it sure does sound like she's convinced there are! ]

Very well. It's worth testing the limits, in any case; if it's true that supernatural abilities are sealed on a personal level rather than a world level, then it shouldn't affect what spirits might live here.

Probably not. [Zerinda is just very casually back to back with Mira on the floor, relaxed and still weaving flower chains.] If there were I'd gave felt them by now. [Zerinda, you're detached from the- never mind.]

You think so? I didn't know you could feel, um... spirits.

I do live in a swamp full the dead. It's just a...tiny bit of a hidden talent.

What makes you think there are ghosts? [Where did that other forget-me-not disappear to, hmmm...]

The meeting yesterday, um... it was brought up. That there might be ghosts here.

Oh, I must've been feeding Gregory during that part. [Ah yes, that meeting she was definitely at despite Lynny being at work and missing most of it. Gregory, of course, being the noisy skull she adopted from Rin.]

But even if there were ghosts, fussing about them isn't a good idea. Where I'm from it never leads to good things.

[ Ah, yes, the skull. ]

[ ( chuckles nervously ) i'm in danger ]

Back home, when humans say there's ghosts, it's usually some kind of Gem thing.

[Or nothing, but they really only go and investigate the ones Garnet says they ought to, so she mostly sees the Gem-related ones.]

I don't know if they're really real or not.

Back in my world, there are a lot of films and such about them, but.... I've never encountered any.

[ thankfully, her tone suggests.... ]

So do you think they're real?

I don't know, actually, but-- [ gestures to the spirit board ] There is this. A lot of people on ghost-hunting shows use them.

Oooh! I've never seen any of those!

[she's into this ghost ritual thing!]

Really? W-well, I can show you how it works, if you want.

[ sometimes you just make bad decisions here in murder facility ]

[Rose is not at all concerned! This is a fun human thing!]

What do you do?

[ It's a fun bonding activity! ]

Okay, um... You place this smaller bit of wood on the board-- [ which she does! ] --and you ask a question, like, "Is anyone here?" and if there's a-- ghost here, it'll move the smaller piece to certain letters to spell out an answer.

S-scientifically speaking!

[ Ema is all too quick to chime in, here! Ignore the fact that her voice might have jumped up an octave, in her rush to get her piece out there. ]

Scientifically speaking, it's just your body moving unconsciously! It's got nothing to do with ghosts, or spirits, or anything like that...

[ But even she doesn't sound too...sure....... ]
