WEEK 1

Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

They usually have external flames of some sort, and can breathe and manipulate fire easily. And of course their internal temperatures are higher, so they can help keep people warm even without setting fires.

Like Rubies. [ Okay, none of this sounds completely out of line given the entirety of the universe and all of the various life that probably exists out there, but on Earth? ] So you've got these... things. And they just serve you?

Well, it's not a "just" thing. There's usually something involved in earning a Pokemon's respect, lots of times by facing it in battle, though some are just happy to join a Trainer and see more of the world. And traveling with Trainers helps Pokemon get much stronger faster than they do in the wild.

You're telling me you've faced off against them? [ This seems kind of farfetched to Jasper, but then, she's not even sure how big most of these things are. ] With what weapons?

Well, technically most Trainers are just supposed to stand back and let their Pokemon handle things themselves. But I've gotten more physical with a few in my own time. [She pats her walking stick with a smidgen of pride in her expression.] Usually I can channel energy to make this into a sword, though like everyone's abilities here it's blocked.
