WEEK 1

Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[ ooc: Welcome to Peace Week! Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember, office hours for The Professor's Assistant are over here if you're interested, while regains can be deposited over here! ]
reallyhatesharks: (i get the people outta the water)

Maybe. If they want to keep us truly in the dark, probably not. I'm the closest thing to a marine biologist here and this? [She makes a wide gesture to the whole of the tunnel.] Not exactly my area of expertise. I study sharks.
bolderfell: No helping it. <user name="hashagi" site="tumblr.com"> (WELL 🗡️ Guess so.)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-06 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sharks, huh? Maybe you'd be able to tell where we are if one of those swims by.
reallyhatesharks: (so so so so so so so)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-06 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends. A lot of sharks are native to multiple oceans and they're predators so they have large ranges. We're obviously not near a coast, so even a mako wouldn't really help.

[Also shark ranges are useless because sharknados put sharks wherever the fuck they want, but she's gonna assume that's not a problem here.]
bolderfell: Four-letter ones, even. (Concept art) (SAY 🗡️ I'll use small words.)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-06 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sigh.]

So much for that idea. And it's not like a passing ship could see us down here.
reallyhatesharks: (what are we gonna do?)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-07 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
They might. It's kind of difficult to tell how far down we actually are or the size of this facility, but if the facility is large enough it would definitely show up on sonar. Whether or not they do anything about that is a different story.

[What she's saying is this definitely seems like a thing where people with a lot of money have decided to do something and the governments will look the other way. She would know: she's worked with three or four different shady organizations with money.]
bolderfell: No helping it. <user name="hashagi" site="tumblr.com"> (WELL 🗡️ Guess so.)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-07 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah. If people could see this place, I guess they'd have already looked into it. Not like anything this scale was ever built in a day. So either they can't, or their curiosity's already been satisfied.

[Never can rely on help from outside, right?]

There's nothing we can do to send a message from the inside? Make the lights flash, or...?
reallyhatesharks: (there's no place you can hide)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-07 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Noise travels better under water than signals, but [She taps on the wall of the tunnel.] I doubt it'll get through this. If I were trying to isolate a bunch of people where there wasn't a lot of hope for discovery, there's worse places than the bottom of the ocean.
bolderfell: I would've put my apple down. <user name="nappotuna" site="tumblr.com"> (SURE 🗡️ Yeah yeah.)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-07 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Someone else said we'd need a... subma-thing to get out.
reallyhatesharks: (blood is gonna flow flow flow)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-07 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Submarine or submersible. Hopefully a submersible, because I only know how to fly. I don't sail.

[She hates boats, actually. And the ocean. But mostly sharks.]
bolderfell: I accept all of that 100% completely. <user name="nappotuna" site="tumblr.com"> (STONE 🗡️ Uh-huh.)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-07 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[...

...

He lifts his chin, takes a deep breath, and then looks down and lets it out.]

...So one is a craft you can fly. Right? And the other is more like a boat.

[Kids these days and their newfangled airplanes and cars, when I was young we walked uphill both ways dragging the ol' cart behind us and called ourselves lucky, you rapscallions don't know how good--]
reallyhatesharks: (let's go swimming in the ocean)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-08 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, she does. She fought a sharknado next to Merlin and also Morgana and that shit sucked.]

Not exactly. A submarine is independent - you can keep one underwater for three years - but a submersible is only intended for short trips. Submarines are complicated but a submersible isn't that different from a plane. Meaning I can probably make it work.
bolderfell: People besides me can experience tragedy?! (Concept art) (!? 🗡️ Nani da fuck?)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-09 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Three years?

[Nani the fuck]
reallyhatesharks: (i'm gonna fight the sharknado)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-09 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
They're mostly designed for military operations. Designed to be covert and go relatively undetected.
bolderfell: Some "springtime of youth." <user name="nappotuna" site="tumblr.com"> (STUPID 🗡️ My street cred...)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-09 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like a depressing way to live.
reallyhatesharks: (all through the ocean that shark)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-10 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently some people like that sort of thing. I can't really talk, I basically lived out of a car for almost two years.

["Car" is a misnomer. What Nova lived out of for two years was a fortified RV fully decked out with enough scientific equipment to track and study sharknados. Also enough firepower to obliterate them.]
bolderfell: Not sure how to stop. <user name="nappotuna" site="tumblr.com"> (WEARY 🗡️ Don't stop can't stop.)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-10 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Living out of a cart is fine. You can get out of a cart. Secretly living underwater for three years sounds like... burial at sea.
reallyhatesharks: (all through the ocean that shark)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-12 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's got the same problems: you're living out of your car because you don't have anyplace to call home, and there's just you and the road. [She had Lucas with her, but even that's gone now.] Yeah, you can physically get out of the car, but the car is your whole world and that's a kind of loneliness no one else knows. At least on a submarine you've got the knowledge a hundred other people know the exact same loneliness you do.
bolderfell: Quick, eat the evidence! DON'T ASK QUESTIONS! <user name="nappotuna" site="tumblr.com"> (YIKES 🗡️ Sh-shimatta!)

[personal profile] bolderfell 2020-04-12 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
A hundred other people?

[HOW BIG IS THIS CART]
