Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[Listen. It'd be different if Alice had slept in her clothes. It's just. She didn't.

Alice wrinkles her nose, looking at the newcomer with unnaturally bright eyes. That breakfast sure did her good, even if she's still not sure what kind of blood it was.]

Worse how?

Well... It could be music played entirely on kazoos.

[precognit]

[Alice, caught off-guard, starts to laugh, uninhibited.]

Okay, okay, you're absolutely right. That'd be much worse.

[philoxenia]

[ Oh, she has a really nice laugh. Mira can't help but give a little laugh of her own. ]

Exactly. We're very lucky it's only smooth jazz.

[ She doesn't mind it! But also... it's not her favorite music. ]

I don't think we've met, have we? I'm Mira.

[precognit]

Thanks for the perspective.

[Alice shakes her head, and then reaches out to offer Mira her hand from her place on the floor.]

Mira, I'm Alice. Nice to meet you, even if the circumstances are pretty dire.

[philoxenia]

[ She'll give her hand a shake, and--wow, her hand is pretty cold! ]

It's nice to meet you too, Alice.

[ She lets out a sigh, looking out the glass. ]

"Dire"... that's one way to put it, certainly.

[Yes, well, it's cold down here under the sea!]

I'm sorry to be meeting everyone here like this. But at least most have been nice, so far.

[She follows Mira's gaze out the window...]

It's like living at the Seattle Aquarium.

[philoxenia]

[ She's about to agree, but-- that? That gets her attention. Her eyes widen a little. ]

I was thinking the same thing, actually. Though... without the cute otters.

[precognit]

[Alice starts to nod, but then does a double-take.]

You've been there?

[philoxenia]

I have, lots of times.

[ Out of all the places to have in common... ]

I live in the city, actually. Or, well... close to it.

[precognit]

[Alice can't help but to clap her hands a few times in excitement.]

No way! I live in Washington! On the Olympic Peninsula. What are the odds?

[philoxenia]

Really?

[ Look at the way she brightens up!! ]

I wasn't expecting anyone to come from the same area! It's sort of a comfort, isn't it?

[precognit]

Definitely. At least we have a point of reference for each other's lives, sort of.

[Alice grins.]

We'll have to watch out for each other.

[philoxenia]

[ She looks a little taken aback by that, but she smiles after she recovers. ]

I agree. Washington girls have to stick together, right?

[precognit]

[Is this.....Friendship??]

Exactly! Although, full disclosure... [she leans in conspiratorially] I was born in Mississippi.

[philoxenia]

Really?

[ She makes a considering sound, then sighs. ]

I should come clean, then... I was born in France.

[ As if it wasn't obvious--she does have a little bit of an accent!! ]

[precognit]

[Alice giggles.] Is that what that charming lilt in your voice is? I thought you were just especially cute.

[and just to seal the deal, she leans in and boops Mira's nose.

And then she stands up and stretches.]

I'm going to go explore the rest of this place. See you around, 'kay?

[philoxenia]

[ Oh my god. She's dead, bye. If she was blushing before, it's sure nothing compared to now.

I-- a-alright! Um, take care!

[ Wow, smooth. Fuckin nailed it. ]

[Alice slips out of the library with a little wave. Why is she like this.]
