Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

Yeah, my godson traveled back in time to save me from dying then took me back to the prehistoric era so it's been kind of a weird year.

[Alice blinks, several times, which is notable because she doesn't have to blink.]

...Wow. That's kind of unbelievable, actually, but for some reason I believe you.

If I was going to make something up, I'd choose stuff that was a lot more believable than my own life.

[Things happen and Nova has just learned to accept them, honestly. This situation? Sure whatever. Meeting an alien yesterday? Might as well be happening!]

You know...I get that. I actually do.

[Just look at how many times Alice has had to pretend to be in high school, for example. Nobody would make that up for funsies.]

And now we have one more story for the books, at least.

Yeah. I tell myself that a lot: "at least I can tell this story to my next Tindr date." Not that I get out a lot anymore.

[Alice laughs, covering her mouth with her hand.]

You know, I've never tried Tinder or anything like that. But from what I've heard, it sounds objectively terrible.

It's just old-school blind dates except nobody's even vetting the guy so sometimes you just pretend you have to go to the bathroom and leave out the back because the guy's that garbage.

Oh. [Alice's nose wrinkles in distaste.] That sounds...like a bad time all around. Makes me glad I haven't had to worry about dating for a long time.

Well you can't just say that and not tell me about him.

[Nova's hype. She hasn't had girl talk in like a year - it's hard to do girl bonding when the only other person around is your, uh. Former boss' current wife who used to be his ex-wife and who still is mildly antagonistic toward you because she thinks you're gonna steal her man even though that ship sailed like five years ago.]

[Alice laughs, but she doesn't look embarrassed. A chance to brag on her sweetheart? Yes please!]

His name is Jasper. He's sweet, and sensitive...he's had a hard life, but he's the kindest and most loyal person I've ever met. I...miss him, so much.

He sounds like a good guy. [The description reminds her of Lucas, but that's a weird sore spot, in this context at least.] How'd you guys meet?

He is. It's....really hard, being away from him.

[Alice looks down at her hands for a moment, contemplating.]
