WEEK 1

Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

Seems as though there's always a conflict somewhere in the world where I'm from. The last war was over twenty years ago, and the treaty that ended it is what sparked the current conflict between the Empire and the Stormcloaks. Not that I don't understand, considering that it involved banning the worship of one of the Nords' preferred deities, but that seems to be the case for most wars where I'm from - one conflict leads to another in some way.

Yeah, religion tends to make everything a mess. We've fought over people worshiping the wrong gods, people worshiping the right gods but in the wrong way, people not worshiping gods when other people really thought they should, all of that. I am not surprised that people tend to think religion is a mistake.

Indeed. The Stormcloaks are so devoted to their cause that they can't see the potential problems in a bid for freedom from the Empire, while the Empire has mishandled everything that followed the end of the last war. Neither side is fully in the right and yet brother fights brother for what they believe is right. While I hold no love for war, I do believe the glory that could be found on the battlefield would make choosing a side beneficial.

[...............]

...What.

Which part are you having trouble with?

[probably the absolutely insane part of that, aela???]

The... The entire last part of that.

[THE INSANE PART, YES.]

The Companions fight for honor and glory, and what better way to earn that then by defending Skyrim? While I may find fault with both sides, I cannot say I think either of them are entirely in the wrong. The battlefield is the place best fit for my skills, and earning victory on such a grand scale would test me like nothing else can.

[...]

It isn't to be, however. Before he died, the Harbinger insisted that we remain loyal to Whiterun; our place is to protect the hold and not choose a side in this conflict.

[NONE OF THIS IS ANY LESS INSANE.]

...Why join if you're not partial to a side, I guess? Wars are usually an ideological thing on at least some level.

[like, "just because" usually isn't a factor.]

[...............was she not clear enough??]

Glory, of course.

[nope, that's it, that's the reasoning.

this isn't "skyrim is weird" this is "aela is weird" btw.]

[Sometimes it really is that simple.]

Another thing that doesn't make any sense to you, I take it.
