WEEK 1
Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...
The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to Peace Week! Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember, office hours for The Professor's Assistant are over here if you're interested, while regains can be deposited over here! ]

I understand.
[There's no need to say that they scarcely know each other, that any bond they've formed over such a short time hardly means that either of them can trust one another in a situation like this. She gets it.]
I won't ask again. But know that should you ever want to share, I will always listen. The Companions were founded on stories - bold, glorious tales of battle and the tragic loss of life alike - and I will always listen to any tale you'd care to tell.

Lif's gaze winds up darting at that, but he...]
...I appreciate it, Aela. Perhaps the day will come when I'm willing to share such a thing. [...] You'll be the first to know, if such a day should come.
[He doubts it will come, the day he shares the story of what befell his world like some sort of grand tale. But it's a nice thought. Aela doesn't exactly seem the type for pretty words, and he can imagine that The Companions are a rather stalwart group of people.]
If there is anything else that I can answer for you, however, I am willing to do so.

[He isn't her shield-brother, and she certainly hasn't forgotten that. But Lif is one of the few people who gets it in a way most people don't here.]
Tell me of your most glorious battle, the one you're most proud of.
[A different topic, and in her opinion, a much better one.]

I'll tell you of our final battle against the forces of Muspell, then. The king of Muspell, Surtr...he was a maniacal man who sought to do nothing more than burn every living being to ash. He reveled in the chaos that he caused, and after bringing one kingdom to near ruin, he had his sights set upon burning Askr to the ground.
He had been rendered immortal by periodical sacrifices to the dragon that Muspell worshiped, which rendered most of our battles against him utterly one-sided. In a way, it would seem that luck was on our side that day; after resurrecting himself, after our last attack ended in futility, he was entirely mortal when we finally had the chance to confront his forces within his castle.
The battle was intense. Soldier after soldier piled in to try and stop us while Surtr himself loomed ever closer. Our forces gave everything they have, dodging arrowfire, dragon's breath, and all manner of weaponry to land blow after blow against his forces. Slow but sure, his forces thinned...until it was simply the king itself who stood ready to fight.
It took the effort of all of us to bring him to his knees, before I struck the final blow against him. Ramming my sword through that utterly blackened heart of his, and finally bringing peace back to the land...
[Lif's eyes seem to close in content.]
I could hardly describe a better feeling of euphoria. The battle was truly glorious.

Incredible. You aren't wrong; such a battle must have been among the most glorious in Askr's history. To defeat an enemy - a king, no less - who threatened not only your people but the world, and a man who otherwise would be unable to die... such a thing will be told in stories for centuries to come.
[Or at least it would in her world, because there are entirely too many history books and people talking about battles that happened hundreds of years ago like they're somehow still relevant in an effort to remind you of previous Elder Scrolls games, but that's not the point.]

It was. I hesitate to say it stands among the greatest battles my ancestors have taken part in, [if only because there's LITTLE TO NO LORE FOR THE GACHA GAME] but...it certainly gave my people some peace of mind.
