WEEK 1
Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...
The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[ ooc: Welcome to Peace Week! Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember, office hours for The Professor's Assistant are over here if you're interested, while regains can be deposited over here! ]

Writing! Her favorite genre is going to receive the blessings of Shelley Winters! For two days Shelley worked in her room, filling page after page of feverish writing. And finally...
...here she is at the library, giving it her last touches. Her work is done! To her side there's a 250 pages long handwritten manuscript]
...aaaaand done. Oh, Shelley, you so are the next Jane Austen.
[She places the last page on the pile, grinning with pride. This is a job well done!]

[ Ema's always been more of a science-minded person than a creative-type...or, at least, that's what she tells herself. Still, there's no denying that drafting something up so quickly is impressive! ]
So? Are you going to tell me all about it?
no subject
[Shelley seems so proud, seriously]
This is a romance tale with dashes of urban fantasy, with extra care for those who seek some really spicy times. It's going to kick the literary word's derriere into next week. I haven't figured out a good title for it yet.

[ oh no, it's smut-- ]
Well, if you need to come up with a title, I always think that tying in an important piece of dialogue is a good idea! Maybe have it echo back to something that someone says that you really want to leave an impression? That way, the reader's on the lookout for it!

[A quiet observation he decides to speak aloud, since everyone around here apparently can't hear him coming?? A lifetime of sneaking around has become his downfall, it seems.]
You're the first I've seen writing something down, though.
no subject
[That's totally it]
Maybe it's matter of time before everyone else writes something too. There's so little to do in here you just have to find ways to keep yourself busy, right?
no subject
Probably safer in the long run.

If it turns out this experiment liks the one about making a million monkeys mess with typing machines until one writes Hamlet I'll be both upset and a bit amazed.

To be honest, I don't see us writing Shakespeare anytime soon. Unless that's what you're jotting down right now?
no subject
[She won't, and not for a terrible lack of skill]
no subject
In that case, you may want to read up on a few of Shakespeare's stuff. First tip: Romeo and Juliet? Not nearly as romantic as everyone says.

[The first page seems to set things up. The prose is compelling, at least it's encouraging to take a look further inside. Looks like Shelley is a competent enough writer, although there are some purply-prose sentences in there!

Sounds interesting. Do you mind if I take a closer look?

[The first few pages afterwards are good! But the longer Nira reads, the more uncomfortable it feels. There's too much detail. It really feels like she's inside someone's head to the point where it feels invasive, weird, and so wrong. It doesn't help the romance receives a lot of focus, and it seems to be leading to racy content. Oh, geez.
It's impossible to go beyond like page 50 because of how intense and unnerving it gets. This is completely unpublishable despite being of quality!]

You wrote that all by hand?

[She sounds so incredibly proud, seriously]

Do you write a lot, then?

[Like when you're trapped in an underwater complex being told to kill each other, but since she doesn't plan to commit murder, yeah, she needed to do something else]
So this happened! Maybe I should look for a critique before I send it anywhere, though.

[ She pauses. ]
If you'd like, I can give it a read and tell you what I think? My best friend is a writer, and I've done that for him plenty of times.

[You're so going to regret it, Mira]
