WEEK 1

Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to Peace Week! Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember, office hours for The Professor's Assistant are over here if you're interested, while regains can be deposited over here! ]

If you can handle the Shelley Winters brand of nonsense I'd be happy to tell you anything you want!

[She seems so flattered]

But it's got to be give and take, Dr. Birkin. It'd be great to find out more about you and your life! You seem interesting to me!

My life itself has mostly been given to my research. Virology isn't something that a lot of people tend to be really passionate about, but it's what I've been interested in since I was a kid.

But if you want to hear about stuff, then sure. I'm not opposed.

Why did you like it since you were a child? Strange career choice to want at such an early age!

[Which is impressive on its own right, really. Shelley sits on her tombstone, comfortable for listening]

Viruses are interesting organisms. The way they work, rewriting the body's cells and systems like they do... I don't know. The ability to harness that sort of mechanism always seemed like it would be able to change the world. It's something I thought about a lot when I was going through high school and university.

[...You know, before he was fourteen.]

I'm pretty big on trying to make the world a better place. It seemed like it had potential worth pursuing.

This seems like the kind of thing that just falls under 'With great power comes great responsibility'

[Change the world for better...or for worse. Knowledge is power!]

Absolutely. Bioweapons manufacturing is a pretty lucrative business right now, actually, if you know the right people. That sector of things has a tendency to get nasty and is best avoided, even if you don't have the morals required to keep out of it anyway.

Obviously, I'm not here to try to end the world, so I stay out of whatever they're doing and stick to trying to find ways to save people.

No kidding, I once saw a bioweapon of sorts be created. It's the kinda project you do if you're morally bankrupt or just...don't know what you're getting into.

[She conveniently doesn't mention it was created with her genetic material and afterwards she was, well, an accomplice in everything, even though Shelley did it unwittingly. She's not proud of that]

Have you done any big work? Saved many lives so far?
fivestagegod: (07. if we can make it out of this alive)

[...It happens to the best of us, surely...]

I've just had a major project of mine come to completion lately. My life's work, if you will. So while it isn't up for distribution yet, I'm looking forward to it.

You're so getting a hospital named after you someday.

[That's got to the the greatest honor a doctor can get, she thinks]
