Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[ She's quiet for a hot second, before finally broaching the subject that thus far has only danced around her peripheral awareness. ]

You all keep saying "world" like it means something different from "planet."

[oh boy. oh no. this is going to be such a mess.]

From what I've gathered from everyone here, we come from different... realities, I suppose. The things that exist where I come from seem to be absent from others' homes. You are familiar with humans, but do you know anything about elves or the beast races? They're just as common as humans where I come from.

[Well, mostly. Skyrim is the land of the Nords, so humans > everything else, but it's close enough for what she's trying to explain.]

[hardnosed]

No.

[ Well, no wonder she took this all so normally! Jasper, meanwhile, is already getting an inkling of the fact that she's not going to like this at all, so she's just going to focus on the question she can definitively answer. ]

Other sentient lifeforms exist elsewhere in the universe, but nowhere near the earth. And there are beasts... but they're mindless. I've been trapped on that rock for months; I'd have seen anything else.

The humans you saw are likely different than the ones I'm familiar with as well.

[none of y'all are nords or imperials or bretons or redguards and that's weird.]

This is confusing for all of us - I doubt any of us would have ever imagined such things could be possible. If the Professor had a way to bring us all here, then there's undoubtedly a way to send us back. That's the important thing.

[It's fine. Don't ask questions. Just accept that nothing makes sense. That's the Elder Scrolls way!!!]

[ You don't know that, she immediately thinks. How can any of them know anything, if this is true? They're here to kill each other. There's no point in having a certain path back for the individual who finally succeeds here. ]

You're talking about something impossible. The power to reach past the fabric of reality and take whatever you want — it would have to be incredible. Even we don't have anything that comes close.

[ She might be deliberately ignorant, like, all the time, but she's not stupid! She can imagine what this might mean, and understands what it means on a more immediate level: that even if she could break the windows and simply walk out of here, she'd surface to find herself on an entirely unfamiliar earth, no less miserable than the one she knows. She seems to be bracing herself against the bookshelf, and is almost certainly considering tipping the whole thing over. ]

I don't get it. Why is this place still such a dump?

[Something about the way Jasper phrases it gives her pause - such power doesn't exist where she's from either, at least not quite like this, and yet the Professor has chosen to use that power for... well, this. Why? If he can take whatever he wants from other worlds, why them? Why this experiment? He could have all the gold and power he wants from other worlds, and yet—

Well, thinking like that isn't going to get her anywhere, so Aela dismisses it.]

I'm confused by that as well. We're being provided for, but there's very little to do here.

He wants us bored. If there were any half-acceptable distractions, some of us might have less motivation to get out of here.
