Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[precognit]

[Surprise! Guess who's a vampire, doesn't sleep, and therefore has little concept of what's early or late! Guess who is also here to do her laundry, though in true Alice fashion she's chosen to wear the suit from her closet. You know. Casual.

She sets her little bundle of laundry on top of one of the washers, and then starts to throw her few items of clothing into the barrel of the machine. All of this is done silently enough that Mira might not even notice, if she's not keeping an ear open.]

Good morning, Mira!

[philoxenia]

[ Ah... girls, am I right.

She definitely doesn't notice--she's that involved in whatever she's writing--so when Alice greets her, she gives a little start. She clears her throat, looking to her. ]

G-good morning, Alice. You're up very early.

[precognit]

[Alice pauses, glancing up at the clock.]

...Oh, I suppose I am! [She finishes throwing everything in the washer and follows it up with a healthy splash of laundry sauce.] I've always been kind of an early riser. You too?

[philoxenia]

Sort of.

[ She gives an almost sheepish smile. ]

It's... difficult to sleep well here.

[precognit]

I imagine it would be. [wait—]

...I'm always a light sleeper, so I guess I'm just used to it.

[Alice hoists herself up to perch on top of the washer, swinging her legs back and forth.]

I don't mean to be nosy, but what are you writing?

[philoxenia]

[ She raises her eyebrows at the slip, but... she seems to accept the backpedal, at least. It's a fair explanation! ]

Oh, um... it's just a few notes.

[ ... but is it really tho ]

[precognit]

Oh yeah?

[Alice winks. There's practically a little chime sound as she does.]

Anything about me in there?

[philoxenia]

[ Oh. She's dead, because she can feel her cheeks go very hot. ]

W-well, there are things about everyone I've talked to.

[ rip. ]

[precognit]

Really? Well—

[Alice sits back, propped up on her hands.]

I won't pry, I promise. Trying to figure out who might crack first?

[philoxenia]

It's... something like that. I've always had trouble sifting through my thoughts, so... writing them down helps.

[ a pause. ]

For what it's worth, there's nothing bad about you in here.

[precognit]

I get it. Sometimes things are a little too hectic...up there.

[She makes a fluttering motion toward her head.]

Oh, good. Always nice to know when I've made a good impression.

[philoxenia]

[ She nods... and then smiles a little. ]

You definitely have. And, to be honest... I've never had this many people to talk to before. So... I don't have many complaints at all.

[precognit]

[Alice's brows knit together a little. Sympathetic. She's always been gregarious, but she's also always had to protect herself and her family, which meant...not getting too close to anyone.]

Let me guess...kind of a loner?

[philoxenia]

Something like that.

[ Not entirely by choice, but... ]

... But in such a confined place, it's hard to not want to seek out company. Especially since it's so... stressful.

[precognit]

I feel the same way. Back home...my family and I, we all kind of stuck together. We didn't branch out much.

[It was safer for everyone that way, she almost adds.]

[philoxenia]

... That sounds familiar.

[ She lets out a quiet hum. ]

Just my brother and me, though. Ah, and his fiancé.

[precognit]

Oh?

[Aww. She hopes Bella is okay. She's probably woken up by now...]

Did you get along with them?

[philoxenia]

I do. They're my best friends.

[ She frowns, though. ]

I can't imagine how worried Aiden must be, though.

[precognit]

I know. My family must be worried sick. I'd never go off without saying anything first...

[well. except in extenuating circumstances but that's spoilers.]

[philoxenia]

... nor would I.

[ That might... be a little bit of a lie. ]

... What is your family like, Alice?

[precognit]

My family?

[She smiles, a genuine smile.]

Well, it's huge, for one. We're up two people in the last month alone, actually. My younger brother Edward just got married, and his wife Bella had a little girl right before we...before I ended up here.

[Alice ticks off on her fingers.]

Then there's me and Jasper, and then Rosalie and Emmett. And our parents. Carlisle and Esme.

You can imagine how family gatherings can be a little rambunctious, sometimes.

[philoxenia]

[ Ah, she really does have a lovely smile. ]

Wow... you really weren't kidding. [ She lets out a little laugh. ] What do you all think of Bella?

[precognit]

She's wonderful. I've always loved her, she's really just like another sister to me. The others...well, Rosalie took a long time to warm up to her.

[And then Renesmee.]

Nowadays I think she's changed her tune, a little.
