Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[Oh, hey you. He doesn't know this guy, but he's been keeping caught up on everyone's profiles at least, and observing when he can.]

You're welcome to it if you want it. I'm not much for wind instruments.

[He can do piano well enough. Flute, though, he'd probably just sound like he's doing horrible things to a cat.]

[He picks the flute up to look it over more carefully, rubbing his thumb carefully along the grain.]

Yeah. And you're William Birkin?

That would be me, yes.

[Well, now that that's out the way.]

That came out of the machine at the other end of the hall, incidentally.

The grey one with the opening at the bottom?

Yeah. I woke up with a bunch of coins nearby and decided to see if the machine takes them.

For better or worse, it does.

Takes... ah. In the hole. So that's how it works.

[After a bit more examination, the flute gets tucked up in a pocket somewhere under Therion's cloak.]

I found some of those coins this morning, too. Was anything else in your room out of place?

...No, and that honestly bothered me more than just finding them there.

Yeah. I'm not exactly a heavy sleeper. If they're from the Assistant, she shouldn't have been able to get in without waking me.

Saying I've been sleeping well here is an exaggeration, so I know what you mean.

[It's agitating, honestly, but he's not seeming too worked up about it at this point, just...bothered.]

The rooms aren't exactly large, either, one would think we'd notice either way.

Is there some way we could be kept asleep? A type of poison, or...?

I can think of a few ways to manage something like that, sure. Some of us apparently don't need to sleep at all, though.

Really? ...Some of the ones who aren't human.

[Must be.]

Did they see anything?

[fivestagegod]

I don't know, I haven't run into them yet. But I do know Rose and presumably Jasper, at least, don't need to sleep so they're our best bet for asking.

[bolderfell]

[He nods slowly.]

And even if they don't need to sleep, it must still be possible to knock them out. I can't imagine anyone bringing Jasper down here while she was conscious, at least.

Fair, though I have a hard time seeing anyone managing to knock her out through most conventional means, either.

Couldn't pay me to try. ...Couldn't pay me to watch someone else try. Unless it was through one of those screens.

I know a guy that would probably think the challenge is fun, but he's always liked fighting a little too much for his own good.

[bolderfell]

Mm... Guess I know one or two who would, too.

[He shakes his head.]

But I like living, thanks.
