WEEK 1

Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

Unsightly. [ She pauses before asking: ] Was that thing ever alive?

[ No, seriously, she doesn't know. ]
reallyhatesharks: (so warn that guy in the sharknado)

Depends on whether you're the kind of hard-line vegan who thinks yeast is alive or not.

[She lived in California. She's heard a lot of weird vegan opinions.]
hardnosed: (they called him cassius;)

I don't know what that is.
reallyhatesharks: (blood is gonna flow flow flow)

Vegans are people who eat plants because it makes them feel morally superior to everyone else to not eat "living things." Some of them extend that to yeast because it's "alive," even though yeast is closer to mushrooms which they'll eat without thinking. [SHRUG] It's a weird human thing, don't worry about it.
hardnosed: (i'm rocking my peers)

Sounds human. You already can't take a step on this planet without crushing a "living thing." [ to be fair, while this is probably true for everyone, it is way more true for jasper ] So what's the difference?

[ wait. ]

Unless you mean the food's still alive when you eat it.
reallyhatesharks: (all through the ocean that shark)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-15 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, usually you kill it or cook it alive, but people do that too. I tried to order live octopus earlier and just got raw octopus.

[She points at a plate of octopus tentacles. One is clearly half-eaten, because that's what she's been eating while she's doing this.]
hardnosed: (but now i got a new tour)

[ Oh, hey, she thinks she fought one of those once! ]

You'd think that would be easier to get than some of this junk.
