WEEK 7
Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.
Another week, another three gone in the case alone, not to mention Chloe earlier in the week. Even as you gain access to another floor, the ship by now must be starting to feel more empty than ever. It's been a long time by now, approaching two months.
Where do you think you'll be, in two months more time?
The clouds have begun to gather around the ship, this week.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to week 7, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and The Captain is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

[Thank goodness for Filbo knowing enough cooking to survive on his own without getting food poisoning. Such is the competent adult life]
no subject
Oh, wonderful! Then let us begin at once! I saw "chicken stock" in boxes on one of the shelves, so I think it should work well for a broth!
no subject
[Filbo looks like he approves, yup. In the meantime he took out a pot because hey, even if he's the one Flayn's cooking for, that doesn't mean he should be just staring at her all the time, may as well nudge things along so they go easier for her]
no subject
Flayn goes over to get the box with the cap labeled "chicken stock", and looks at it curiously. This really had amazed her, that you could have the broth ready for you instead of, you know, doing it the long way and breaking down/boiling a chicken. She'll put that on the counter and then go back for vegetables.]
A good soup should have...carrots, and potatoes, and something green maybe? And onions? Turnips...ah, wait, no, I should not just pick things at random...[Raising her voice a bit,] Filbo, do you have vegetables that are particularly your favorites?
no subject
[The guy's standards have sunken really low since the times he survived like three weeks eating only sauce and herbs. Since then anything that's edible is good enough for him, haha]
no subject
[A little bit of relief as she gets carrots...and then looks very carefully at all the labels of what food is what. She gets little red skinned potatoes, and a large turnip, and an onion, and...peas. Peas? Yes. Peas are green. She wants a colorful soup, but not one that is colorful for ominous reasons.
These are all brought to the counter, and Flayn looks at them consideringly. Will they need a noodle or something? Maybe not, but a protein would be good...]
Would you be alright with chicken in the soup?
no subject
[Especially if it'll have chicken, he figures]
no subject
[Let's. Do the carrots and peas, then. Put the other stuff away. She's just going to do that and then...try to find chicken.
Eventually she will return with what looks like chicken breasts cut up into chunks! Nice bite-sized pieces for a soup.]
Will this suffice?
no subject
[At least partly because he stopped her from pouring half a pantry into a soup, but who hasn't done that at least once, hah]
no subject
Oh, well...let us not think about that for now! We ought to focus on cooking, right? Right.
[So she's just going to...pour the stock into a big pot...not turn the heat on just yet, that can wait...and she starts veggie prep! She peels the carrots alright, but when she chops them up...you can tell she's trying really hard to make them about the same size. Trying being the key word. When they are tossed in, many of them vary in length. At least she can just rinse the peas off and put them in?]
And now that can simmer while we prepare the chicken...
[...
Ah. We've hit a road block. Flayn stares blankly at the knobs for the stovetop for half a minute.]
...How...do we make the stovetop work? There is not a place to stoak coals.
no subject
Oh, right, you come from old times! Right, you had trouble with the frapuccino stuff...
[Time for the modern world grumpus to teach about these newfangled things]
You don't need coal! Or firewood. This is kinda easier, you just have to turn the knob, like, uh--maybe I should do it this time, just so you can see how it's done.
[After the frapuccino incident he doesn't want Flayn to go throw fire at him by accident. He could take it without really much damage, but there'd be a lot of freaking out for both of them, goodness gracious]
no subject
[And Filbo can tell she means that 100% honestly, because what the heck is this anyway. She watches intently as Filbo makes the stovetop go on...hopefully a low heat setting, this can take its time, it's fine.]
...But if it does not need coal or firewood, how is it powered?
no subject
It's gas! Probably. Gas extracted from underground and contained in these...large metallic things that maybe are in the walls or something right now? That's my guess, it's--it's one of those modern life things. It's very flammable, so, uh...never leave these open if there's no fire or else things are gonna get really bad around here.
[If the game badends because Flayn left the stovetop on and half the ship exploded people are going to be so disappointed, hah]
no subject
She's just going to...wash her hands, first, and get a bowl and then start putting the chicken pieces in it, all while sending concerned glances to the stovetop.]
...You promise it is not going to do anything bad just from making soup?
no subject
[He smiles reassuringly]
Besides, it's good for you to at least know how all this works. I dunno if you wanna cook more in the future but if you do you won't be in the dark. It may look tough because you haven't ever seen stuff like this before, but it's all meant to make things easier!
no subject
[But we're gonna take a deep breath and be brave and go wash our hands again because it's time to season! that! chicken! Flayn takes down...salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder? Huh, you can powder onions. She takes those down and just. Does her best to shake in only a little of each. Only a little.
Probably too little.]
We can cook this in a pan, in oil, yes? If we are careful.
no subject
[Should he...say that's too little...?
...
...does seasoning go before or after it's cooked? He can't recall for sure. Maybe it's after]
no subject
[Hey, Filbo, at some point when your back is turned? Flayn is definitely accidentally knocking cinnamon into the chicken. Her sleeve caught on the container and she freezes up when it happens, but...oh, maybe she can just. Scoop it out and rinse it off in the sink? Yeah! Yeah that'll work!
The chicken definitely still has plenty of cinnamon in the mix, but it won't be cinnamon challenge levels.]
no subject
That'll be better! Tastier, probably. And as far as I know butter doesn't go up in flames if you get careless, so it really will work better!
no subject
Flayn is just going to go find some butter and hope Filbo doesn't notice the change in the chicken? And hey maybe it'll taste good? When she comes back, it's with some fancy herb butter.]
I found this! It should add some good flavors, right?
no subject
[Filbo glances at the herb butter like it's the first time he sees such a thing. What can he say, he never really went for the fancier options when it was about food. Hmmm...well, if it's expensive it probably is better? Maybe?]
...I...it should! It's worth a try! I mean, a little creativity is fine, right?
[Hoh, if he had been aware about the cinnamon he seriously wouldn't have said that, that's too much creativity even if it was accidental, haha]
no subject
[But uh, here's butter. Let's just uh...get this chicken going?]
no subject
[Filbo watches, very clearly looking forward to this. This soup will be good, he knows it!
Expectations always are way above reality, unfortunately]
Still feeling nervous about doing all this? You're about half-done.
[He asks hoping it's an encouraging question, really]
no subject
[I mean, it's not Thursday night, they should be fine, but. She also doesn't want to make Filbo sick on accident anyway?]
You will be honest with me if it is not good, right? I can take the criticism just fine.
no subject
[If honest criticism is what she wants then she'll get it, he thinks. It'll be all fine, he figures]
