Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

For me, low level dungeons are about as close to down time as I get. And it's not unheard of to duo a dungeon either, depending on the difficulty.

[Is now a good time to mention that Jonathan carries around his "letter opener" for protection or should we wait until he somehow stabs himself with it on accident.]

[ Hodaka actually did get dragged away to bed last night. It doesn't look like he got much rest, however, when he enters bright and early to find everything the way he left it. Everything, except... ]

...Mr. Oliver.

[ The woman he's watching. The woman who Hodaka's seen presumably check in on every teenager in there. ]

Am I...intruding...?

[ He asks. But he doesn't want to leave. Not when Hina's just on the other side of that glass. ]

[ It sure is out there! Vholran is actually a bit surprised he'd admit that.

So, he listens, curious as to what Rossiu will say next. ]

I suppose it must be new for "Supreme Commander" to be captured.

[ Vholran's intrigued gaze falls from Simon's appearance. It's different from Alphen's naïve positivity, more bold somehow. And not because he's lacking a shirt. ]

Yet, he doesn't appear afraid. Can you imagine someone like him being unable to return back to your home?

I meant you, evidently.

[inaclearing]

It's okay.

Wait, did you want privacy? I can -

Oh, that's fun! That kind of stuff's interesting. It's like modern folklore.

[Obi lifts a hand in a lazy wave.]

Like I said, I don't plan on dying on you anytime soon. See ya.

I would not say that, but I generally have more important concerns.

[ Is eventually good enough? Hodaka doesn't know.

Still, such a gentle reassurance sends him into another wave of sobs. Like this he can't dry his face...but that seems to be okay. Accepted. Even though he can't say anything else yet. Even though he can't fight through his tears.

What he can do is squeeze just a little more, with a deceptive amount of strength from someone so scrawny. Forrest must be hurting too, and he's still trying to reassure Hodaka. He has to express that he appreciates that...even if he can't with words. ]

[kninja]

[Obi grumbles and scratches his head.]

It's a pain, but I guess I can try to keep an eye on our supplies. As much as anything here is really "ours."

[withagun]

[ Hodaka doesn't take his eyes off Hina. ]

I'm not tired.

[withagun]

[ Hodaka is fully ready to respond with a firm but polite denial—except there's food in front oh him. ]

...You're not gonna make me leave?

[ He sounds more than hesitant. He sounds wary. He sounds suspicious. ]

[Dandy spots Aiba charging in the meeting room, mistaking her AI form for one of the many oddly-shaped pests he's encountered on his adventures in space. He promptly removes his non-functional transmission bracelet from his wrist and holds it over his head in a threatening manner.]

[ Try as Mielle does, it's impossible not to startle Hodaka, because his attention is largely focused on one person, so much that anyone approaching is an afterthought. He tenses and turns with a jerk, eyes wide and almost uncomprehending.

For a good solid few seconds, it's like he doesn't know where he is. ]

Mielle...san. Sorry. [ Blinking, righting himself. Reminding himself— ] Sorry, I didn't... Have you been here long?

[kninja]

[Obi shifts to let his legs dangle.]

So, what, you're always running around these dungeons of yours? No breaks? Sounds like kind of a pain to me...

[ When in doubt dance it out, all I'm sayin!!! Dance battles solve everything. ]

Oh, you want eel-style, huh? How about this?

[ Floyd snickers and proceeds to drop to the ground and do a headspin! After a while he comes to a stop, laying on his side. ]

How about that?

[ The others' hostages have been so kind to her. Hina's a girl who can take care of herself—that's the air she gives off, what he now knows she's constructed to give off. She's good at it. Or, maybe he's just naïve, not seeing what was in front of his face until it was too late.

It's both, probably.

The point is, despite the fact that he's sure she's insisted she doesn't need it, those older than her keep offering her what have to be words of comfort on top of physical reassurance. He can't read lips, but he watches. He knows what she looks like, when she's touched. He's spent so much of the summer watching her, after all.

Hodaka's lost in these thoughts when Obi speaks up. He's been lost in them, barely offering any sort of greeting. It means for a moment, he doesn't comprehend. Doesn't hear. ]

Huh? [ He pulls his eyes away from Hina. ] ...Rain?

Uh, okay.

[Brett demonstrates a punch! It's...you know, a fairly average punch from a guy who's plainly never really punched anybody.]

It does raise the question how else our captor could have possibly taken us? Frankly I have a hard time believing he always knew where we were.

[Obi's voice isn't as bouncy as usual, but he sounds, you know. Reasonable and present.]

Yeah. I noticed he wasn't with you, and it's been a while. Someone else looking after him?

[This is how it goes sometimes, he thinks. Sometimes, the only things that get through are competing interests. Other duties. How often have the prince's three aides used some variation on this technique to remind him he's human, with a responsibility to himself, to relationships besides that he has with the crown?

Zen has his friends. Hodaka has his cat. Right now, Obi has Hodaka.]

...I don't know if it's good for you to stay. But I can't do that.

[Physically, of course, he can't. He's not dragging anyone out of here. But even outside of that...no, no one else can really do that for you.]

Conceptually, yes.

Throw that at me and I will tase you.

[Probably will deplete her battery something fierce but hey, it's self-defense against Dandy's bracelet, she thinks it's worth it]
