Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[God, we haven't even talked about the Final.]

But...I do think they should've been taught what to do if they ever got lost out there. Maybe not to that extent, but something. Acting like it'll never happen doesn't help anyone.

[ Hesitant, a little wary: ]

...Her name is Hina. She's...the most important person in my life.

[ The first thing of note is the background noise - it sounds like a social gathering of some kind - music and chatter. It's not like there are hundreds of people, but there's a decent number.

Fontaine, without the usual distortion, cuts in above the noise. ]

Alright, alright, settle down, all of ya! It's time!

[ And then all the voices join in. ]

Ten...!

Nine...!

Eight...!

Seven...!

Six...!

Five...!

Four...!

Three...!

Two...!

One...!

[ There's laughter and cheering, and above the crowd, Fontaine speaks again. ]

Happy new year, Founders.

[ And then, very abruptly, the tape cuts off. ]

[Adaman will at least start to punch in the orders; at least approximations of them, for some of them, though he's mostly just going by what he's being told...]

Hmm, perhaps...I fear I know not what these 'hot wings' are, but perhaps an approximation might be suitable...?

[what does that even look like in Rich Fancy Foodie-ese--]

You've done incredibly well to memorize such things, though, I must say.

[withagun]

[ Shakes his head, looking firmly ahead at her talking with another teenager, eyes filling with tears. ]

You're gonna think I'm crazy.

[withagun]

[ In breathless tones of disbelief: ]

Yeah. I spent three hours picking it out.

[withagun]

[ ...Hodaka frowns. ]

Take more. And I'm finishing up the miso soup soon. Some of that too.

[timegazer]

[...Honestly, Brett, your reaction is kind of funny--]

For as long as I've been around, all be told! Leafeon is at least a little bit older than I am; I know not by how much, but he's been around me and the others for as long as I can remember.

[He's a very long lived lil fox! Fully evolved since he was a kid.]

He's old enough to have little ones of his own, if that helps matters any!

[timegazer]

[Adaman looks over to Brett briefly, and he wonders--if only for a moment, if the man's own sister is in there. How many families have been torn apart for this...?

...It's one less than Adaman thinks, at least, but he looks to the woman in a red coat and--gods, she looks about his age. Something in Adaman sinks.]

...It's alright; she's strong. I know she'll keep fighting. [...] What is Peregrine like?

[timegazer]

[There's a pause; a quiet one, as Adaman recedes a bit into himself and brings his hands together in prayer. His expression is grim, and he never once takes his eyes off the glass.

He's right there with Hodaka, and he hates to admit it. He's a leader, he's supposed to be a leader and he can't save even one person, much less fifty of them. He's not sure what to do, and all he's doing in staring at this is wasting time, wondering if Almighty Sinnoh can hear him at all and--]

...It's okay. You've done nothing wrong. I...

[don't know what to do either.]

I intend to keep looking. Keep fighting. We must find a way out; for them, and for ourselves. We cannot let this man win.

[For as much as he steels himself, saying that, he...doesn't sound confident in the slightest.]

[timegazer]

I did not imagine it to be so.

[Adaman's chuckle is a touch...quieter, but he does perk just a touch at that.]

It would be prudent, though. Many of our number may not know how to fight, if it should come to violence.

[...]

...If you do, I would like to take you up on it.

She…was the one to yell at him, right?

[ But… ]

If…Misfire can’t turn into a plane like normal…how do you know your magic’s working?

[Adaman laughs outright at that; not that he disagrees, honestly...]

Based on the book I've found, if that's the sort of reading material the vending machine is willing to provide, then it's certainly quite dry! I'll take what we've got in here over this any day of the week; there's boundless information here, and truthfully, I hope we can abscond with some of these when we get out of here. I'm sure the Professor would be quite happy to have some of the Pokémon encyclopedias I have seen here...

[ Honestly, this has probably one of been the few times she's made it in since Tuesday, if at all, but the smell of the bulgogi was more than enough to pique her interest to pop in for a visit. ]

I haven't. [ She doesn't really need to as is, but there's no point in belaboring the sentiment of the question. ] Did you make all this by yourself?

Who is she? Pe-re-grine-san? [ It's choppy, and it's definitely a name he hasn't said before, translation confirms that. ] Why'd she... Why'd he wanna teach her? If he's that disconnected...

No, they do not.

[…well, none of the kids do. He’s not sure about nandor’s weird little gremlin and grimlock honestly, even if he’s generally pro-grimlock on account of him being a cool robot. but like. by and large.]

Of course, the same could be said for many of us, even if we have more freedoms at present. We are not dealing with any notions of justice here.

Having the opportunity to learn about so many other worlds truly is incredible. I do hope the Professor enjoys the ones you're able to bring back.

[So here's hoping that everything goes well and no one dies!!!!]

...That is a good point. I hadn't considered that before.

[Oh no......... starvation motive would be really effective.........]

I suppose it would be worthwhile to hold onto them just in case something like that happens. Though I sincerely hope we don't have to worry about any part of this building sinking.

I do wish we had a better idea of what exactly his goal is here. As it stands, I can't even hazard a guess.

[Which is very frustrating!! We could likely work backwards and figure out a good amount about this place if we knew that much, but no, of course not.]

I suppose there's no point in focusing on it for now, though.

I- I never- we don't have Pokémon...where I'm from. Just in games.

[If Adaman minds, it isn't apparent. He looks to Forrest and starts to speak.]

She's kind beyond compare, to start; Mai is always the sort who wants to look out for others, but she's never smothering about it. She always tries to serve as a guiding, steady hand for those under her wing, but she's not afraid to be stern or scolding if you've done something wrong, either. She's knows how to be the perfect balance of a sister and a parent.

That's not to say that she was alone in such matters; my grandfather was usually busy with leading the clan himself, at the time. But she was always there, sometimes whether I wanted her to be or not.

[Adaman chuckles a bit at that, though, a little more pep.]

She's incredibly strong, in both will and physical prowess. Why, I wager she could still pick me up and carry me over her shoulders like a sack of mushrooms. She used to do that quite a bit, when I was being an unruly child, but also when I got injured from getting in over my head. She's reliable like that, too.

She's not all I have, but...she has been there for me through it all, and I appreciate all she has done and continues to do immensely.

[withagun]

[ Prayer. Again, prayer. Hodaka tenses, and he listens—but for a moment, it's a little hard to. It's hard not to be back there, instead, especially when she's right in front of him. ]

Why- do you do that?

[ ...It's a strange question. That's for sure. ] I mean- does... Praying, does it- help you?

[inaclearing]

Wow. Most animals we have back home don't live that long.

[Not ones you'd keep as pets, anyway. Maybe you could have an elderly cat - but Leafeon doesn't seem old at all!]
