Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

What's the actual reason you're out here tonight? One of your suitemates snore louder than an elephant?

It says next to my picture, doesn't it? They're calling me "Night Knight." Prolly 'cause I'm often out and about at these hours.

[buriedstar]

That assumes I take your profile literally. I'm not actually a Demon King, you know.

[kninja]

Aren’t you? Aw, and here I was ready to give you the royal treatment, Sire.

[jk, jk. Or is he?]

Though I guess if you were, you’d have to be married to Madame Hild. Or are there multiple demonic realms, too, just like there are all different pastry layers of Earth?

[ His red eyes fit! ]

Don't tell that to Dandy, he's already jealous of me and Hild noona~. [ It's a story??? ]

But I assume that there are multiple instances of every world, just like dungeons, given what we know.

[kninja]

[Poor, poor Space Dandy.]

Dungeons? [He tilts his head.] I have a feeling you don’t mean the kind of dungeons I’m familiar with.

[ Honestly even if it's not the same dungeons, it's nice that someone else knows of them. ]

Oh? What are the dungeons you're familiar with like?

[kninja]

Oh, you know. Dark, dank holding cells for those criminals who have made themselves particularly annoying to the local lords, sometimes infested with rats. And yours?

[buriedstar]

Not exactly, but there are some with giant rats. [ The more you know! ]

The dungeons I'm familiar with are the ones that house dragons and other magical beasts. They're run for experience or loot, but there's a few that make for a good date ♥.

A date? I dunno, that doesn't seem like a good idea in either of our kinds of dungeons!

[Of course, there's yet a third kind of dungeon that might work for some couples who are into that, but this isn't a thread with Dandy, so.]

It can be if you're the adventurous type~.

[ Which dungeon? yes. ]

[kninja]

[He starts to say something, then stops, looking up into the dark as he ponders something.]

...You know, I could see it working for certain people who spend too much time attached to their swords. [He raises his hands.] Not me, though. Gimme good, hot food and fun things to do around town any day.

See? It's also not bad if you want to show off your skills.

[ His red eyes are bright. ]

For me, low level dungeons are about as close to down time as I get. And it's not unheard of to duo a dungeon either, depending on the difficulty.

[kninja]

[Obi shifts to let his legs dangle.]

So, what, you're always running around these dungeons of yours? No breaks? Sounds like kind of a pain to me...

Not at all. There's meetings, banquets, workshops, auctions, bounty hunting, recruiting...

I keep myself busy. [ Can't stop won't stop. ]

[kninja]

Whoa! What is it exactly you do, man? Apart from the dungeon thing, it almost sounds like you run a small government!

[Is he sure he's not a demon king?]

[buriedstar]

[ Pretty sure...! ]

I'm the guild leader of Red Lotus, the number one guild in Korea. We have collaborations and contracts with the government too, of course.

[kninja]

Oh, a guild! That... almost makes sense.

[He rubs his chin.]

I don't know what kind of guild does all that, but all the meetings and recruitment, that checks out.

The best one, of course. [ Okay no, he can explain more. ]

Ever since the Gate opened, users have become an important part of all aspects of society, even outside the hub. From security, to government, to hobbies...skill use outside the hub is strictly regulated, but it's not like it's disabled or non-existent. I could teleport from Korea to the United Kingdom with a snap of my fingers, but I'd have a very unhappy enforcer to bargain with afterwards~.

Ah, there we are, you lost me completely. And here I thought I was almost understanding something. Oh well!

[buriedstar]

It's a lot to take in. Feel free to explain the inner workings of your world to me if you like.

[ Fair is fair. ]

[kninja]

I mean, I don't know about any inner workings. It's just normal? There's no magic or technology or layers of other worlds to deal with. The most troublesome things I handle are the occasional assassination or kidnapping attempt. You know, from normal people, with normal abilities. No... tellyporting.

[buriedstar]

Not a lot of people would call assassinations just "troublesome". You must be pretty skilled, though I suppose I should have known that from tonight.

[kninja]

[He raises a hand.]

To be clear, I help prevent assassinations, not commit 'em. Just in case you had the wrong impression.

[He says, still perched on top of the bookshelf like a creeper.]

A knight that commits assassination is too far of a stretch, huh?
