Week 2

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to the second week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, and you can reach either Mayor Fontaine or Eleanor for conversations! ]

[It's not exactly a surprising question, given how much the others have wanted to know about the Hope's Peak killing game. No one's asked for a full rundown until now, though...

Hagakure thinks on it for a moment, but ultimately nods after he gives someone on the other side of the glass one last glance.]

Nah, I don't mind. You might wanna buckle up though, because it was a wild ride...

["Wild" among other things. But yeah, Rossiu will be treated to a retelling of Danganronpa by Yasuhiro Hagakure!!! He deliberately leaves of the horrible, stupid shit that he personally did though, but he does include the time he got framed for a double murder by being shoved into a robot costume. It was a time.]

[personal profile] onemillion 2022-06-21 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is a mildly cursed retelling of Danganronpa, but surely it's fine. I may have forgotten much of Danganronpa, but shhhhhh don't worry about it.]

...I am truly sorry for all that you went through.

[The sheer scope of it is almost unbelievable, but he has no reason to think that Hagakure would lie to him. More than that, though... it's absolutely horrific. Seeing people die each week, having to vote them out... And then Hagakure was pulled here, into yet another killing game.]

I can scarcely imagine it. For all the horrid things I've seen, none of them have ever been so personal.

[Cruelty like that is truly horrific.]
sixthnonsense: (☄ serious time?!)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-21 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's fine you remember the basics!! Motives, killing, trials, voting people out...and ultimately overcoming despair at the end of it all.]

...Yeah, that was 'shima's whole thing. She wanted to show the world how deep its "hope" could sink into despair. Doesn't seem to be Fontaine's goal, but he's doin' a good job of it anyway.

[He sighs and leans his head back against the glass, though not in the same position. His hair just kind of awkwardly squishes to the side in the process.]

Thanks, though. For listening and stuff. I know you asked in the first place, but talking about it was kinda cathartic.

[If the story had ended with hope overcoming despair alone, maybe it would soften the blow somewhat, but no, Hagakure's been shoved into another murdergame. Who could possibly be so cruel as to come up with a horrific idea like that.]

I think it is good to talk about these things, though I understand how difficult it can be to open up about them.

[I mean not that he has ever actually opened up about anything, ever. Listen, it's fine.]

I do think that it's important to remember that we can overcome this. The situation isn't exactly the same as Enoshima's, which means there may be an earlier opportunity for us to find a solution.

[One that doesn't involve nearly all of our number dying, hopefully.]
sixthnonsense: (☄ stares...)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-22 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Hagakure's more of an open book about this stuff than he should be, but he just has so few opportunities to actually talk about his problems. It's surreal.

He does listen to what Rossiu thinks on the matter, though his gaze is back to being fixated on the captives. Eventually, a small sigh escapes and he nods.]

'shima's first incentive for us was a videotape...of the people most important to us being attacked. One second they were there, and the next...the room they were in was trashed and they were gone. The only way we'd find out what happened to them was by "graduating". And you know what that means.

[He backs up a little so he can point out a woman on the other side of the glass.]

That's my mom, and she was in that video. So...if nothing else, by tryin' to hurt me Fontaine let me know that she's okay. There's hope in that. Now all we gotta do is make sure they don't get stuck in something like this too.

...

N-Not by killing, obviously. There's gotta be another way.

[Oh, your mom...]

Certainly not by killing. We'll find another way.

[He has no damn idea how they're going to do that, but for now... keeping that hope is the most important thing.]

While it is a difficult situation, it is good that he's confirmed that. I'm glad she seems to be doing alright.

[Sure, there's no doubt that she doesn't want to be there, but she's alive and well. It must have been very difficult for Hagakure to have no idea this whole time...]
sixthnonsense: (☄ survivor)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-22 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, same here.

[He smiles for the first time as he watches his mom help Kim comfort some of the younger captives who are having a harder time dealing with the situation.]

I bet she's given Fontaine so much crap already. I wish I could hear it.
onemillion: (☆ 14)

[personal profile] onemillion 2022-06-22 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I imagine that's exactly why he won't let us hear them.

[Because they are absolutely going to tear the Mayor a new one.]

Will you tell me about her? She seems like a kind woman.

[Willing to immediately look out for the kids despite the difficult and undoubtedly terrifying situation... that says good things about her.]
sixthnonsense: (☄ naegi-chi's optimism is contagious)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-22 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I'd be down for that.

[In a way, it's having to confront the fact that she's really in there head-on, but at the same time it's nice to get to gush about his mom a bit.]

She's a registered nurse, so she's real good at dealing with and helping people. She practically raised me by herself too, since my dad's been out of the picture for a long time. Through thick and thin, she's always been there for me, making me laugh, supporting me...

[He turns to rub at his eyes a little.]

She's the strongest person I know.

[personal profile] onemillion 2022-06-22 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[There's something a little painful about hearing it because it sounds very familiar... but it brings back memories of Adai and not all of them are bad. It's Complicated, in other words.]

She certainly sounds like it. You're very lucky to have a mother like that.

...I'm sure she and the others will be just fine until we can find a way to free them.
sixthnonsense: (☄ hey come check out my stash)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-23 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It's something I never take for granted.

[If nothing else, they've got a little connection there, having such similar upbringings... A shame that one of them ended tragically, though.

He turns to Rossiu again, his smile not having faded.]

That's what I'm thinkin' too. They probably wouldn't want us to mope so much over this either, even though that's easier said than done...

[Hagakure's figuring that Rossiu is struggling too, even though he's usually so stoic... Hm. Would it likewise be good to bring up Rossiu's captive? It's worth a shot.]

Hey, so...if you don't mind me askin', who'd he put in there for you?
onemillion: (☆ 87)

[personal profile] onemillion 2022-06-23 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly is.

[But Hagakure's right, and he can practically hear Simon admonishing him for it already. It gets his expression to soften a bit, and Hagakure's question gets a nod.]

Simon, the former Supreme Commander and... a friend.

[He points out Mr. Row Row Fight The Powah himself; as always, Simon seems to be doing just fine, chatting it up with the others and presumably trying to keep everyone calm.]

Seven years ago he defeated the Spiral King and since then, has served as a beacon of hope for us to rally behind. He's truly inspirational - no matter the odds, he will always come out on top.
sixthnonsense: (☄ headlock)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-24 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hagakure takes in the sight of Simon and just grins a little. Now that's an anime protagonist if he's ever seen one.]

So that's your beacon of hope... I totally get it just by looking at him. At least that group's got a lotta strong people to help keep morale up.

["Former" Supreme Commander though, huh...]

Are you sharin' a job with him, then? Didn't your profile say you helped beat the big bad guy?
onemillion: (☆ 65)

[personal profile] onemillion 2022-06-24 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh... Right, yeah his profile does spell it out.]

I joined Simon in the fight against the Spiral King, yes. He piloted Lagann and I piloted Gurren; Gurren was damaged fairly early on in the fight so there wasn't much I could do beyond watch.

[...after he regained consciousness, anyway.........]

Simon was the one we all agreed should be the leader following the Spiral King's death. He was our first Supreme Commander. But due to... several factors, I inherited the position.

[That is the most bare-bones description of what happened that is only barely accurate, but he tried. Getting into it beyond that is... difficult and not something he's done, but given his gaze has gone back to Simon and he looks a bit unsure about the words, there's definitely more to it.]
sixthnonsense: (☄ headscratcher)

[personal profile] sixthnonsense 2022-06-24 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, don't undersell yourself like that. You fought a dude with a... Wait, what's Gurren anyway? A mecha? Either way, that's hella cool.

[Anyway, he listens to the rest of Rossiu's story, and while he doesn't expect to get the full story, it's enough for him.

He directs his gaze back to Simon too.]

I mean, he's still your friend, right? I'm sure there's no hard feelings about it. You've definitely got the leader-y chops in my opinion.
onemillion: (☆ 27)

[personal profile] onemillion 2022-06-24 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
A... very large robot, essentially.

[He doesn't know what a mecha is despite being from a mecha series. It's fine. But anyway, that...]

I am glad you think so. I've been doing what I can to assist our people in a time of crisis, so I have some experience.

[Which is... sort of putting it mildly. But the rest of that troubles him greatly, as evident in his expression.]

...I know he doesn't. He's told me as much himself. But I...

[Perhaps if Simon weren't there, acting like nothing's wrong despite the horrid situation, Rossiu would shut his mouth and go back to internalizing it, because it isn't something anyone else needs to hear. It isn't something anyone else should have to deal with.

But he does keep talking, because Simon is here, and he still hasn't processed everything that happened.]

He is an exceptional fighter, but he isn't cautious. His actions resulted in a large portion of the city being destroyed. I used that to my advantage; to take power for myself and blame him so the people would listen to me. I did it because someone needed to step up to guide them, but my actions were inexcusable. Unforgivable.

[His hands shake at his side, though his gaze remains firmly on Simon.]

...He chose to forgive me anyway.
