Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

[ Mielle's gotten so used to eating at the restaurant that she'd almost forgotten they actually had a kitchen in here, even if it's not a particularly exciting one. So it's a surprise when she steps out and sees food already made and ready and even more of a surprise when she realizes just how much of it there is. Mafuyu's gone and made herself quite busy, hasn't she? ]

Good morning, Mafuyu. My, this is quite a feast! [ It's certainly not what they'd get at the restaurant, but she finds herself impressed that Mafuyu's cooked so much so early. ] You certainly didn't need to go to this much trouble for us.

[sastruga]

[Mafuyu immediately seems to brighten at Mielle's arrival. And she shakes her head a little.]

Oh, no, it's really no trouble. I know the restaurant has meals that are a lot more extravagant, but... I thought it would be nice to have something available here, too.

Not to mention it's nice to eat together, as well.

[honeyedtea]

No, no, you shouldn't put yourself down. You've clearly put a great deal of effort in.

[ As if to emphasize her point, she sits herself down at the table, carefully setting herself properly for a meal. ]

Is this the sort of thing you enjoy for breakfast at home?

[sastruga]

Sometimes. My mother usually makes breakfast in the morning, so I eat whatever she makes. But she makes sure there's always a balanced and healthy meal waiting.

I suppose I'm doing my best to be like her and do the same for all of you.

[honeyedtea]

Your mother cooks breakfast for you herself? My, she must care for you a great deal to go to all that trouble herself.

[ She can't imagine even Aria's mother lowering herself to prepare breakfast for either of her daughters - let alone caring enough to make sure it's a healthy one. ]

And you must admire her a great deal, to be emulating her like this.

Mm, of course. She's given me so much, how could I not? It's because of her that... that I have the opportunities I do in life.

I just hope I can repay her someday.

[Gosh, someone ought to give this woman a mother of the year award.]

[honeyedtea]

... She sounds like a wonderful mother.

[ Mielle's smile turns complicated, as it does occasionally when she's clearly mulling over something she doesn't quite want to talk about. It's improper for her thoughts to go in that direction when they talk of mothers, but she suddenly, sharply misses Emma.

She was only a maid, as she'd often been reminded – but she was the woman who'd raised her for as long as she could remember. And Aria had made certain she'd paid for that mistake.

... There's no point in upsetting herself by dwelling on that. Not when Mafuyu's gone to such an effort to make them a nice meal. ]

I'm certain she'd be proud of you for doing your best under the circumstances.

[sastruga]

Proud...

[She considers that. Would her mother be proud, for how she's doing here? She's... doing everything she can. She's keeping up her studies, even here. She's doing her best to take care of everyone. And...

...Would her mother approve of her friends, here?]

I hope so. With any luck, I'll get to see her again soon.

[Ah--

She feels a little cold, suddenly...]

[honeyedtea]

I'm certain you will. She's certain to be looking for you right now and I'm positive that the mayor won't have covered his tracks enough that we couldn't be found. Perhaps we'll be found by someone else's friends and returned to our homes with their assistance.

[ She gives Mafuyu what she hopes is a reassuring smile. ]

So try not to lose hope. I'm certain things will be back to how they should be soon enough.

[sastruga]

Yes... I'm sure you're right.

[She tries not to think about it too much. Her mother, surely wondering where she is, trying to find her. She must be worried sick...

The cold inside of her gets worse. How awful, to be worrying her mother this way...]

I'll do my very best to hang in there, Mielle-san. Oh, and I'll do my best to help you all do the same, of course.

[Even if it's just in little ways, like making breakfast... she feels she should help out.]
