Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

Another week at the bottom of the sea. You may start to mark the passage of time by the increasing number of people you seem to be bleeding each week - look how few of you there are now. Nearly half your number gone, and for what? The shadowy machinations of some madman? You've met some others, but they seem unable or unwilling to solve this problem for you. Time marches onwards.

In the abyss, New Rapture starts to wake. It's small things, for now - the lights of a building here and there, the flicker of a neon sign for some small business. The restoration of this city continues.

Speaking of this city, there's a new branch of your little slice of it to explore. It's certainly the most picturesque of the branches you've seen.

There's more to see and do, citizens of New Rapture. And hey, there's coins to get, too.

[Misfire resents being too caught up in the notes of a dead man to notice there was looting and general chaos going on, so of course he's gonna catch up with the involved parties. The pool of inquiry shrinking pretty much exclusively to Brett after he runs his options. He's got questions, important ones, sure, but when he gets to the garden-]

...Do you notice when you're doing that?

[inaclearing]

[Of course not, it's a solo. Basically a musical monologue!]

You do this thing where you'll go from speaking like a normal person, to -

[He waves his hand around in lieu of elaboration. Then, drags it down his face.]

Seriously? No clue?

What - what is this?

[He imitates the hand-waving.]

[dullshooter]

You know, the - uh -

[Maybe...he should...demonstrate...]

I'm Brett, and I'm feeling sad
So I'll go real quiet and start singing a bal~lad

[Not. It's not how you pronounce ballad.]

[inaclearing]

[Brett laughs.]

That's not how you pronounce ballad. [because that's the point here?] Is this what you were all being weird about that first week?

[He's still smiling, like he's continuing to not really buy this.]

[He waves a hand at the pronounciation thing.]

Yeah. There's no way you have no idea.

[He sounds almost accusatory but, it's Misfire.]

I wasn't even saying anything! I was just... [He sobers slightly.] ...sitting here thinking.

[dullshooter]

Thinking...out loud? With a tune?

[Is he trying to use language as a loophole??]

No? It isn't really a singing kind of place.

[Or mood, but you know.]

It never is. That's why it's so weird. You know what - I'm gonna get something to record this next time and show you.

[Because otherwise they'll get nowhere.]

Anyway - [He kicks his foot idly.] what were you think-slash-singing about?

[inaclearing]

God, I wish I had my recording equipment. Just - generally.

[He's...not entirely sure whether or not Misfire is fucking with him on the singing thing. He sobers, though, at the question.]

Oh, you know. Everything. [.....] I don't think I can keep this up.

[dullshooter]

[Misfire does a ??? but then he remembers - podcast. Damn. Now they don't have Jason with them anymore it'd be way less worth listening to. They could've probably just shoved the microphone in front of him and let him go off for an hour.]

I'm not surprised. I mean, no offense but, we've got plenty of the hardened and desensitised here and they're all starting to crack - what chance do you have? [There are far more sensitive ways to say that.] If you want to snap and go on a murderous rampage, killing everyone here, I don't think anyone could blame you.

[inaclearing]

[Brett's brow furrows.]

That's not really...I'm not going to do that.

[dullshooter]

Have you tried the whole 'talking about your feelings' thing? Heard it helps.

[Brett takes a deep breath and carefully lets it out again.]

It's not something I'm very good at. Obi - he only knew me a few weeks, and he told me once that I talk about all these other people, and never really myself.

[dullshooter]

[For a moment, Misfire's worried that Brett's about to tell him about his feelings instead of someone who's, like, actually good at this.]

I don't want to shock you, Brett, but...you're talking about yourself right now.

[inaclearing]

I'm not sure talking about how I don't talk about my feelings counts as talking about my feelings, Misfire.

[dullshooter]

[Hang on, he's doing the word math.]

...No, I'm pretty sure it does?

[Well, it's not like that's not one of his issues...]

Well. We don't have to get into all that. [brett that's the opposite of the thing you are supposed to be doing?]

You’ve got to be kidding, right? That’s word-for-word something I’d say as a joke for this very situation.

[inaclearing]

[Brett laughs.]

Okay, but do you actually want to hear it? You're not my therapist. No offense, but you don't really seem like the type anyway.

[He told you he was scared he'd die here like two weeks ago and you were like "lol yeah probably".]
